no showers is one thing no soap or hand sanitizer in the bathrooms is another. currently they have everyone on top of each other with more than half of the campground closed and the sites are so close that i was able to hear someone snoring from inside my tent. the one trail i went on here was poorly made and labeled and it made me not wanna go on any of the other trails. tried to get firewood and they had the gate locked when ur just supposed to put money in the donation box and it goes by honor system. i really wanted to like this campground, but the 26 miles i had to drive from civilization to there was not worth it.

Great location to experience the park. Easy access to the Cherokee/Bryson City/Deep Creek areas. Campground was spacious and quiet. The creek was peaceful and the Nature Trail was short, but fun. Cell service in the campground would have been nice.

The campground under the trees is a wonderful place. The kids had a great time running around and the 1.5 mile nature trail was perfect for them.

We only stayed one night at Smokemont, and barely a night at that as we came in late. The location of the campground is great for further exploration, but if we went again we would want site A1 for more elbow room. ALL the sites are right on each other, and we have a large family. The hiking was great and we hope to return and do more of the trails! The bathroom was a wreck when we arrived. There was standing water on the floor, all over the sink, and even the walls. Never did a certain why, but next day it was cleaned and mostly dry. We loved the Smokemont church being right there to visit. The grounds have to be glorious in the fall. Knowing it was closed due to Helene, I hope it didnt see too much damage. Great base camp, although very crowded potentially.

I enjoyed the campground and Rangers were very accommodating and helpful. The Indian Museum in town was truly a gift for all of us to learn. Went on a nice hike but left early due to rain. It would have been nice to have electricity.

This campground was the perfect place to stay to explore the Great Smoky Mountains. The location was very convenient and the campsites were well cared for.
