Elkmont Campground is part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee (1 hr 17 min southeast of Knoxville, TN) with an elevation of 2,150 feet. There are a total of 211 campsites including 51 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from mid March to the end of November. 160 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 12 and 54 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. 3 sites have electric hookups. Prices start at $30.00 per night. Some amenities include drinking water, restroom, amphitheater, firewood, flush toilets. Activities include fishing, hiking trails.

Campsite B 10 was perfect for my wife and I, along with our dog. We slept great in the tent with the water rushing in the stream right behind us. Campsite was perfect for a tent. Had several good trees for hanging a hammock. The fire pit was in great condition and was well used during our visit. The firewood available at the camp store was very convenient. Weve tent camped at Smokemont and Cades Cove, as well as Elkmont, and weve enjoyed each one.

Came in after dark, while it was pouring down. After about fifteen minutes the rain died down and it did not come back for the rest of the night. We stayed in a site directly next to the river and it was very soothing. The campsites are very tidy and provide mostly everything youd need. I was also surprised how clean the bathrooms were. No showers but thats okay!!

Elkmont Campground was a great experience. We entered the park to see a herd of elk grazing near the visitors center. We lost cell service about 30 minutes into driving, but we were told this would happen and were instructed on planning ahead. There was plenty of information on preparing for bears and what to expect while camping. It rained A LOT, which would be my only complaint, but that's just how things go. The drive was incredible and the park was very clean and well maintained. The campsites are pretty close together, but not so much that you felt there were privacy issues. The trails nearby were great as well. Know that if you bring an animal, where you go is limited. Make sure to heed all warnings and precautions about bears and you should have a great trip.

The people there were beyond friendly and the spots were really spacious. We were right on the river in November and there was tons of good wood to forage for a fire so we didn't even have to buy wood! Bathrooms were super clean as well.

The personnel were great, including the volunteer. Unfortunately, previous campers left a lot of trash on the ground. I urge you to develop some kind of way to hold the campers responsible for the condition of their campgrounds when they leave. Perhaps they need to sign an agreement, reminding them that the ground and the fire pits are not places for trash.

Had a wonderful 5 day stay at Elkmont. The hosts, the Whitikers, and all the staff were kind and helpful and, if you're lucky, you might get a song or 2 to brighten your day. Bathrooms and grounds were cleaned daily. Sites are large, the campground is beautiful and located on a rushing rocky river. We had no cell service but it was a nice break from reality. Highly recommend Elkmont and look forward to returning.

Such a beautiful setting. Having showers in the bath house would have made this a perfect spot. Hearing and seeing the cascading river behind our campsite was wonderful.

Lovely staff and beautiful area. The only complaint is I stayed there to camp in my car but was unaware that the site i booked was not one that had parking within a close range to the actual campsite. I had to sleep in a parking lot section of the campsite and wish I had more campsite awareness before booking.

Huge camp ground with nice hiking trail access, and the bonus feature of having an historic vacation retreat where you can walk through vacation cottages from the Gilded Age.

nice organized campground with the options to purchase firewood for around $9 a bundle. Went the weekend of 11/8 and woke up monday morning with a few inches of snow! Great campground that is central to some nice hiking areas nearby.

We werent sure how the campground would be operating during the shutdown, but everything appeared to be business as usual for Elkmont in November. The sections of the campground that were still open appeared full, the bathrooms were in perfect working order, and the camp store was even open for business. It was a great stay, as always, and well be back again next year. Thank you all for the amazing job you do!

My daughter and I camped at Elkmont in early November and had a wonderful stay. Our campsite was on the river and it was very clean and we had plenty of space to spread out. With no electricity, it gets very dark when the sun goes down, so make sure to bring camplights.

Great access to easy and moderate hikes along Little River and Jakes Creek. Large hardwoods were in abundance on these hikes. Campground has older rest rooms but they all worked. Staff and campground hosts all very friendly and helpful. Stay away from Gatlinburg if you like nature, go into Gatlinburg if you are a glutton for grossly overcrowded tourism, plenty of it there.
