Had a wonderful 5 day stay at Elkmont. The hosts, the Whitikers, and all the staff were kind and helpful and, if you're lucky, you might get a song or 2 to brighten your day. Bathrooms and grounds were cleaned daily. Sites are large, the campground is beautiful and located on a rushing rocky river. We had no cell service but it was a nice break from reality. Highly recommend Elkmont and look forward to returning.

The location of the campground is perfect for day trips into Gatlinburg and pigeon forge. Or you can just stay there and explore Daisy Town and all the trails in that area. Plenty to do with in walking / hiking distance from you camp spot. The rangers are very helpful about any information you'll need to know about the entire park.

The campsites was to close. There was cars in and out after midnight. The people was loud. My neighbor was chopping wood at 7 am who does that? Other than that the little stream by our campsite was nice. It was not worth the drive or money. No showers at sight also.

We were in site A16 which was near a small creek, fairly level, and shaded. The sites are all spaced well apart so you don't feel on top of one another. The park itself is very beautiful with multiple hiking trails nearby that you can walk to from the campsite. The bathrooms have the usual air freshener scent coming from them, so I was glad to be far enough away that the scent didn't reach our site. But, the site is close to everything; bathrooms, ranger station, hiking trails, firewood and little store with vending machines. Definitely would like to camp there again!

I hate to write this about any NP camping ground, but Elkmont was ok. The facilities were under construction so port-a-jons were out instead. They were clean and well kept, but those were the only facilities within camp. There was no camp store either on the camp or at the closest visitor center to buy basic things like food and firewood, everything has to be brought in from out in town. Typically that wouldn’t be an issue, but IMO Gatlinburg is more of a tourist trap than a place people go to escape to the mountains. I had to drive about 30 minutes to find a grocery store. The campsites were all clean and well kept, with lovely trees and the water nearby. There are no shower facilities within the NP or the town which is also disappointing, especially if you do a lot of hiking and have to travel. Overall just ok. I would use the campground again to continue to hike and explore the park, but I think the NP can do a better job similar to Zion or Shenandoah.

Lovely, large campground with fantastic campsites. The river alongside presents lots of recreation opportunities, and there are several creeks winding their way through the campground that help provide some separation between campsites as well as white noise.
We were there during the septic system replacement, and the rangers have done a great job coordinating maintenance on the portable toilets. They were cleaned routinely, and we never had an issue of waiting or cleanliness.
Highly recommend this campsite.
