Rangers were knowledgeable and recognized me as a hiker. I strongly suggest speaking with Rangers, and seeking out the old camp built in the 20's or so. Very interesting. The trails were fantastic.

Elkmont is at a perfect location in the park and I definitely would recommend it for people if they want to be in a more centralized part of the park where they are not too far from everything. Definitely recommend going to Cade's Cove and Abrams Falls in the west side of the park.

Beautiful place to camp. Gatlinburg is not worth the trip in. Spend your time enjoying all of the hikes and waterfalls. Amazing national park and campground!

First time camping since being a kid and it was a great experience. It was opening weekend, so it was still cold but it was quiet and no real issues. firewood was a bit pricey, but that is my only complaint.

We loved Elkmont. We were in Loop A, which allowed us to benefit from our solar panels. Bathrooms were clean. The history of historic Elkmont with access to the restored homes was fun. Proximity to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge was nice, especially at this time of year when the Christmas lights were up. The Great Smoky Mountains is one of our favorite places. Staying in one of the campgrounds adds to the experience. We have stayed at Smokemont before and love that area of the park as well.

Elkmont is a very nice campground with several clean restrooms. We stayed there in early November, 2023. It was quiet, the Ranger's were friendly, and overall a great experience. We enjoyed the proximity of the Campground to the Jakes Creek and Little River Trails. We were able to walk from our campsite to the far end of the "A Loop", near the river, and walk up to the road. From there, we crossed the bridge and walked to the Jakes Creek Trail Head. We hiked the Jakes Creek Trail to the Cucumber Gap Trail to the Little River Trail and back to the Elkmont Campground. My Strava App says it was a total of 6.86 miles with an elevation gain of 826 feet. Even though the traffic in the Park is not bad at this time of year, it was so nice to not have to drive anywhere to do a nice hike. We will definitely be returning to Elkmont Campground in the future!

nice campground, enjoyed talking to the man taking care of the campground store, would be nice if they put in showers like most of the other campgrounds have

Elkmont is a beautiful campground and is our favorite of all of the developed reservable campgrounds we have stayed at in the Smokies. It is convenient to town and to trails but still has the sound of babbling brooks to fall asleep to at night. So peaceful and tranquil and a wonderful place every time we stay!

The Synchronized Fireflies lived up to the hype. What an amazing experience!
Elkmont campground was beautiful and surprisingly uncrowded.

If I were to choose between Elkmont or Cades Cove, Elkmont would be my choice. First, if hiking is your preference, Elkmonts location is best for a variety of day hikes. Second, being in close proximity to Gatlinburg, there are many entertainment and dining options.

Elkmont is a beautiful campsite. If you have an opportunity, reserve the sites close to the river. Very peaceful! There a quite a few hiking trails that start inside the campground. We were able to complete a 16 mile hike utilizing the trails that connect to and from Elkmont.

Could not get a site for Friday night when I book, tried several times while I was there. Yet about half the campground became closed for the season during our stay. I rode my bike through the closed section and a large portion of it had not been touched. Tell the public we are full for weeks and the real reason is because we downsize early and drag our feet to prep for the winter. it's a case the decision makers just are out of touch with the public, there are other examples but I will stop with one.

We had a nice, level campsite. We were checked in quickly. Restrooms were clean during our stay. We drove to hike to Clingman's Dome, and we drove to Smokemont to see Elk. We spent a Monday evening in Gatlinburg listening to live music provided by Gatlinburg. We ate dinner one night at the Peddler, but you must call ahead to reserve a seat. There is no cell service at this campground. There is a nice, wide creek to play in. There are historical buildings to tour. There are some nice, short hikes nearby.

Second time at this campground. Originally in F loop, where some generators are allowed, this time in A loop where generator use was not permissible. Awesome spot, great campground. They do not have showers, only downside, but lovely experience. Will come back again!
