We were in the old section of the park and it isnt nice like the newer section is.Roads are very tight, no sewer and bugs were bad. I know you cant help the bugs but our site hadnt been cleaned off in forever. Found and arrow and trash on the site.No cell service at all. We ended up staying one night and moving to another campground

We stayed only one night, as we were passing through to our final destination. Our site was on the Catona loop. It was spacious, level and shady. The campground overall was quiet. A real treat was that some campers had Halloween decorations up - it was fun to walk around and look at all of them. We will stay another night on our way home, and have booked a multi-night stay Thanksgiving week. We recommend this COE campground!

We camp at GunterHill at least twice a year. This year we had some medical emergencies so things got complicated, so we had to make some adjustments with our site and had to extend our stay but the staff was amazing. So understanding and accommodating. I can't thank them enough. Also they've made some updates to their bath house. The renovations are really nice. One of the nicest bath houses we've been in. On a side note the showers can get a little slippery so be mindful of that. My daughter slipped and fell. Thankfully she didn't get hurt. We also dealt with ants. They got inside of my camper and into our food. My parents in a site a few campsites down from us also got ants inside their camper. This was our first time dealing with that so hopefully they get this taken care of. They had some racing down the road at a race track and that can get a little load. Thankfully it wasn't to bad this time. Overall we really enjoy Gunterhill. Its got spacious sites and they have nice fire pits and picnic tables.

The campground was great last year. This year was a different story. We stayed from Friday to Sunday. The restrooms weren't cleaned or restocked the entire weekend. I bought and supplied soap for the women's restroom and toilet paper for the men's restroom. It rained and the sewer gas odor woke us up in the middle of the night. It was terrible. The bathroom floors also flooded. We had a great experience last year and we had reservations months in advance for this year. It's very disappointing to see the decline. Staff was friendly on check-in. I'm not sure why they aren't maintaining the restrooms. Site 49 next to the bathhouse shouldn't be rented since there's no sewer gas mitigation.

When we first arrived, we thought wed found the best COE campground weve ever stayed at. The staff is awesomefriendly, helpful, and welcoming. The campground itself is spotless, the sites are spacious, and the scenery along the river is nothing short of beautiful. Add in the fact that every site is full hook-up, and it seemed like Gunter Hill had everything a camper could ask for.So why only three stars?THE SMELL.Theres a nearby paper plant that unleashes one of the most offensive assaults on the olfactory senses Ive ever experienced. It smells like raw sewage mixed with something chemicaland once it rolls in, it stays. What started as a dream stop quickly turned into a challenge of endurance.We closed windows, ran filters, lit candles, even cracked open bottles of Pine-Sol for backup. At one point, we joked about breaking out the N-95 masks, but honestly, they probably wouldnt have helped much.Its a real shame because everything else about Gunter Hill is absolutely top-notch. If the wind is right or the plant isnt active, this could easily be a 5-star campground. But as it stands, that smell is impossible to ignoreand thats why its only three stars from us.

The accommodations were fine, but we experienced a sugar ant problem that vexed us and spoiled the overall stay at the campground. It would be appreciated if there was a recommendation to place Borax around the tiressomething we learned too late from another camper!

A gorgeous campground with large concrete pads, ample graveled area with fire ring, picnic table, and grill tucked into the trees and space between neighbors. But the washers were not operable when we were there.

This is an outstanding campground with friendly and accommodating hosts. Large wooded sites, many on the water. Clean private washrooms and showers. All of the Corp of Engineers campgrounds we visited were great, but this one stands out.

@KERRYB6473728 · Camped on Oct 10, 2025 at Campsite #34
The power pedestal at site 34 had a voltage of 130V which kept knocking my surge protector off-line. So we had to sleep without ac power.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
