Was not sure what to expect, but this is a top notch campground. I did not see a bad site, all concrete pads, long drives. Love the full hookup. My cell phone data stream was att and it was not good, switching to verizon towers, with Patriot Mobile. The campground was pretty full, and the normal turnover with campers. I will be back to this site. Thanks to the Hosts at the front gate, super people.

Great location. Friendly camp workers. Sewer hookup is low to the ground youll need an extension to raise it high enough. Also threads on sewer hookup are bad and would not allow adapter to thread properly.

We spent one night at Gunter Hill and it was fully booked according to their website. Tornadoes were going across our path home from Florida and so, we called the office asking for a site for another night until the storms passed. Barry informed us that the old section of the campground was closed due to renovations to the bathrooms. The park did not allow us to boondock at the current restroom. We had to leave. He said it's spring break and we have a race this weekend. It was Weds. He suggested we find a Walmart. We left and went to campground an hour & a half away. When we have stayed at other COE's in the spring, they have helped us out more. We did survive our trip home though.

The campground was good. We stayed in the Catoma loop and enjoyed a really large level site. The campground and bathhouses havent been well maintained and could use updating. We launched our kayaks from the boat launch which required driving around to the other loop (which was closed). Unfortunately, we couldnt find anywhere good to launch closer to our campsite. There are only a couple sites in the Catoma loop where you can access the water from your campsite. Campsite 27 looked like it had the best pathway to the water. We noticed some campsites in the other loop that had stairs down to the water. The main trail has a bridge that is out, so you cant go very far before you have to turn around. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but wish the facilities got some updating and the bridge was fixed.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Gunter Hill Campground. My site was quite large. I love campfires and was happy that a local resident delivered wood to my sight within hours of my request! Having free laundry on site was an unexpected amenity!

The bathrooms were very poorly maintained. The toilets were never cleaned the week we were there (both men's & women's). A few of the toilets would not flush. The toilet paper was restocked.

First time at this location along the Alabama River, have stayed at one other. This campground was very nice. We got in after hours so, our check in info was at the ranger shack and we had no problem finding our site. Large park with lots of space between sites. We were headed east toward Perry for an FRVA Rally and liked the park so much stopped on the way back. Told our friends about this place, and they checked in today, 3/16 and said how nice it was as well. A hidden Gem!

We love Gunther Hill. It's just too bad it was raining that we couldn't enjoy the campground as much as we would have like on our one night stay

Very good campground and for the most part well taken care of. They are gonna have to go some road work in the near future and the restrooms will need work in the coming years. Having said that this is one of my favorite campground very quiet and the people that work there are very friendly and helpful. My family stays there 4-5 timers a year.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and my campsites were level. There seemed to be some big potholes that I found when riding my bike, but otherwise definitely a place I will come back to.

Site 1 nice long pull thru, backs up to woods. Sewer connection under water if it rains. Distinct sewer smells different times during our stay, not sure if it was from our site or the dump which is not far behind the site.

Paved level pad, clean bathroom with showers which were heated on chilly mornings, have space between sites, very nice!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
