Nice, quiet campground close to the AT and other trails. Showers ($5 for 10 minutes) and laundry facilities were available. Great picnic area for non-campers. Bear boxes and trash plus recycling offered.

My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to big Meadows. We went to the ccc camp tour with Ranger. Carl is very informative and it was good to see him again since I have been on one of his walks before. I definitely recommend the reindeer activities while hiking in the park is fun. The range activities are very insightful and gives you lots of history about the park. I will definitely be camping in big Meadows again and in national parks.

Big Meadows campground was a great experience for our whole family. The campground itself was clean, not very crowded, and situated right off the AT with lots of convenient hiking options. Essentially any needed amenity was either right in the campsite or very close by which made camping with two young kids very easy. We will go again!

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, facilities perfectly satisfactory (showers are great) and the natural beauty worth it all. A stunning natural spring just below the E loop is well worth a visit, just watch out for the remains of a concrete abutment wall with some exposed rebar. It's painted yellow, helpfully.I encourage visitors to keep their campsite clear, as previous campers had left a good deal of litter around the table and fire pit of my campsite which takes time for rangers to clean, and is not courteous to other campers. Also, a PSA to all campers - the campground is more strict about food and fires, and if you leave food/coolers out, or a fire burning while you are not at your campsite, rangers will likely confiscate the food and put out your fire. The rangers are doing their job. Let's do ours.

Great spot to get outdoors and camp! Good privacy without being too deep woods and have all the amenities nearby.

Beautiful park with great hiking trails right from the campground.

Shenandoah is an incredible park! I stayed on a walk up tent site and it went great. Staff member at check in was efficient and helpful, site was easy to find, bathroom was clean and not too far. I spent the weekend hiking all over the park and loved it. My ONLY complaint is paying $5 for a shower! Seems like that could be included in the $30/night camping fees.

I was in site C122, which was very near the entrance & camp store. The campground was very well maintained, the bathrooms were very clean. My neighbors were quiet and everyone seemed to follow the quiet hour rules. My campsite itself was also nice, it was a bit out in the open. There were no trees to provide any privacy, which doesnt bother me but might not be ideal for some. There is no service anywhere in the camp, but if you drive about 10 minutes away to any nearby viewpoint in the park you will have enough bars to send a text. I would stay again

Tent camped in a spot near a restroom for two nights. Nice place that requires generators in RVs to be cut off by 7 pm. (Thank you!) Oddly the check in office closes at around 3:45 PM which doesn't really make sense since check in is probably heaviest from 1-7 PM. It would make more sense to open that office 3 or 4 hours later and close 3 or 4 hours later. Bathroom was clean every time I used it. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful, but they don't camp in the designated camp host spot. They are in a different camp site that is not marked as the hosts. Another camper pointed them out so that's how we found them.

We decided spontaneously to camp at Big Meadow when we saw that the campground was not full. The woods, meadow and roadsides were at the peak of summer wildflowers and unforgettably beautiful. Everything about it was wonderful. The site had privacy, was flat, restrooms conveniently located, and well maintained. The ranger led walk/talk explaining Big Meadow was full on facts about the plants, animals, geology and CCC history. Visiting the lodge was the perfect place to view the sunset and enjoy a delicious dinner of seared trout.Only wish we'd had more time there.

Campground was well kept. Gentleman at the ranger station was really helpful. I had originally booked a pull through site that was tent friendly, upon arrival site was rocky and ground was very uneven where tent set up was located. He helped get us moved to another site. During our stay mowers came through and mowed sites. They hit a rock and sent it flying from the site next to us, it cut the fly on our tent and the tent itself. Thank goodness no one was in the tent or they could have been injured. Notified the ranger and she stated she would pass on the information to the mowers to be more careful around sites. She offered no apologies. Now thanks to their carelessness our new tent is ruined.

Awesome campground, with cooler summer temperatures. Only drawback was the hassle of having to purchase and insert 20 quarters into the machine for a 5 or 10 minute shower. It you are going to charge for showers, find a more efficient way to manage it. Sell $5 tokens instead of 20 quarters! Also, as with most campgrounds, quiet hours are not enforced. Its a shame that a few disrespectful campers can make everyone annoyed.

Nice clean shady campground. Lots of toilet buildings and hot showers available for $5. The restaurants and stores were well run and supplied. A fun experience.If you come in summer, you may get to enjoy the little black gnats, no one warned us about

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
