Campground was large with a variety of sites. Site was a little overgrown but not terrible. The AT runs right along the campground with a lot of great views from the trail. Camp store convenient and well stocked.

The closest coin operated showers only except a minimum of $5 in quarters so definitely bring cash. The campsite was great though, ground was soft enough to put tent spikes in with little trouble.

Camping at the Loft Mountain Campground was great! Check in was smooth and the place was easy to find. Ours did not have a bear box but we were told to lock stuff in our car and had no issue.Nearby waterfall hikes were fun and relatively easy

Loft Mountain is our favorite campground in the park. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The restrooms are clean inside the campground and the atmosphere is rustic. Love it!

The staff in registration area were very nice. It is so unfortunate that NP funds have been cut and professional positions cut. There was limited ranger presence and restrooms were not cleaned for the weekend. These budget cuts not only effect park employees but local businesses in the surrounding communities. We all need to support the NP system to protect our treasured NPs

Very hot. I wish there was electric hookup and I would visit more often in the summer.

Unclean bathrooms (please actually clean them, not just pretend to clean them.) Tall grass that needs cutting on aprons and campsites. Not fun getting chigger bites all over your legs when continuous rain hits and the grass is wet for the next several days!

Beautiful woodsy campsites right on the Appalachian Trail. Park rangers were very helpful in suggesting other beautiful trails nearby with views of waterfalls.

Nice sites, quiet, Apalachian trail right there leading to some good trails including the falls.

Loft Mountain Campground is always a great experience for me. The rangers are helpful and will draw you a map to find your campground when you get there. There is also weather posted at the ranger station so you can be prepared. I would recommend signing up for the SNP text alerts in case there is bad weather while you are there. Our campsite was clean and the bathrooms are easy to get to and well maintained. There are lots of gorgeous trails nearby and a well run camp store where you can get emergency supplies.

Loved the site, the curved parking area made it super easy to pull in and out, and I appreciated the provided bear proof food locker. This site is close to the bathrooms, but a little far from the front of the campground and the Camp-store/showers.

Nice campground great trails quiet during the week. We were there in July for 4 days in rv. Only complaint was generator rules. It got pretty hot 1 of the days and our dogs got pretty hot. Running fans was not enough otherwise we had a great time.

We camped here for 3 days and 2 nights over the 4th of July weekend, and as expected, the park was pretty packed. Despite the crowds, our campsite felt relatively spacious compared to others nearby. It had a picnic table and fire ring, and while there wasnt a bear locker, we stored our food in the car without any issues.The site had some nice tree coverage on one side for shade and privacy, while the other side was more open. Its just one spot away from the restroom, which was super convenientespecially during a busy weekend.Sunsets werent very visible from our spot, but we made a short walk to the amphitheater for an amazing viewhighly recommend doing that if you stay here!

Coin operated showers were expensive and impractical to insert 20 quarters into the payment slot while in the shower stall. The showers were also so small with no curtain, so dry clothes and towel got wet when showering.

The site that I had booked did not have adequate space for my large tent. A small tent would probably have been fine, but this should have been explained at the time of booking. I ended up moving to a first come first serve site, which subsequently flooded during heavy rain, submerging my tent in about 2 inches of standing water.If I were to return to Shanandoah, I would probably consider one of the other campgrounds.

Had a great time, nice weather and overall a beautiful area

Loft Mountain is the perfect getaway! Its a smaller campground, without the hustle and bustle of Big Meadows. The amphitheater has spectacular views that are a must-see! Its also centrally located to great trails!

The campground was in good shape once the grass was finally trimmed. The campstore was missing amenities (milkshake machine) . Price of firewood is outrageous. The showers had mold and mildew all over them, and they had a seriously foul odor. For $5.00 one would expect much better. $5.00 is much too expensive for 10 minutes of almost warm water.
@NatashaEEFB9B0 · Camped on Jun 20, 2025 at Campsite #F170
We stayed in F170 and we were amazed how big the campsite was. We couldnt see anyone else from our site. We had a travel trailer and it was perfect. The bathrooms were clean. The dump site was clean. The water tasted amazing. The only negative is the grass was way beyond needing to be cut. The bugs probably would have been less if they kept up on the grass cutting.

Loved the Doyle's river loop hike and the Big Run hike, but hiking from the campsite there can be tricky since the sign to get on the AT is tucked away. I also really enjoyed the ranger presentation on Bats Friday evening. Driving into the park on Skyline drive is very scenic and I would recommend Loft mountain campground to anyone who wants to try camping in the Shenandoah.

Cam in 1 day late and Camped in the handicap site. THe grass was not cut for a very long time. Grass in our site was apx 12 inches tall. Weather was HOT which when combined with the tall grass created a huge issue with nats. Any movement in the grass resulted in massive swarms of nats. Fireplace sides were so tall there was minimal visual of fire. Price of wood was $1 per board which was very expensive and made it difficult to have a decent evening fire. $5 for a 10-minute shower was also very expensive. One shower stall in the mens facility was out of order however when walking in it was easy to miss the sign. When door was closed sign was outside and NOT by the coin machine. I put $5 into the machine and never got the shower. UGH. Very frustrating...

Nice site. Bear box, fire ring provided. Very close to another site and close to bathrooms but far enough that it was still quiet.
@SarahH2673287 · Camped on Jun 19, 2025 at Campsite #G206
G206 was an excellent site - fairly flat, spacious, with lots of tree coverage. The biggest con is the nearest to the group site, which was pretty loud. Loft Mountain is close to some great hikes plus a wayside station and campground store. The amphitheater was fantastic and the ranger who invited us to a session was super friendly. The location is pretty buggy!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
