Registering at the front desk was seamless, and I was given clear instructions to find my campsite. The site itself was clean and met my needs; there was even a buck munching on bushes several yards away. Bathrooms were clean, well-stocked, and heated. The trail was pretty and moderately difficult.

The ranger who checked me in was so personal and knowledgeable. The camp site was clean and provided easy access to bathroom facilities. The fact that I only paid $15 due to my Senior Lifetime Pass was a bonus.

Enjoyed our stay at Big Meadows. It is a good central point in the National Park. We enjoyed lots of deer around the campground entrance in the mornings and evenings. Bathroom facilities were also nice and clean. We did not use the shower facilities, so I can't comment on those. Close proximity to the Visitors Center and store. The only downside was finding potable water as a lot of the spigots were not turned on yet for the season. We were able to find one working spigot in another loop of the campground. I would stay here again.

Camp sites are near Big Meadows and have trails to Dark Hollow Falls. Trails are easy to follow and often see wildlife near or on them (deer, chipmunks, fox, rabbits, owls). Sites are easy to drive to, and bathrooms are close to walk to. Park Rangers usually are on duty at the entrance to the campsite. It is a nice place Im glad I've been able to visit a couple times now.

The campground was excellent. However, Delaware North is terrible. $5.00 showers and Lodge meal prices are beyond what I'm willing to pay. The park service did an excellent job prior to contracting Delaware North. They do not carry items that the park did, such as refrigerated items like milk, cold cuts, etc. Items that campers normally run out.

I dont know where the money is going, but its definitely not going into the campgrounds or maintaining the trails. Paying for a tent site thats not groomed for a tent is just aggravating. Make tent sites free, thats all theyre worth. The area around my fire pit was flooded by rain cant grade a tent site, cant grade the fire pit, but you have to pay more for less.

Shenandoah is a very beautiful park However, there seems to be a trend over the past couple of years that is concerning. The Byrd visitor used to have 3 movies that told the history of the park. Then there were 2. Now there are none. I always enjoyed seeing them and it's ashamed that new visitors don't get the history. You contracted out services to Delaware North. I rate that poor. The Park Service had coolers with food items like milk, eggs, cold cuts that they no longer carry in the store. It's basically not much more than the local 7 - 11. They were generally out of 1 - 2 dishes at the lodge on the nights we ate there. How can you be out of meatloaf? The Tap room menu has been cut from some of the past favorite, like chicken wings. The entertainment budget was cut. At night there were more servers than customers.Thank goodness you didn't contract out anything else. If this is the trend for the future, I don't believe it will be worth staying at the park. Maybe just a drive thru

The only complaint I have about this camping experience is that the site I was at didn’t have a bear box to store our food so everything had to stay in the vehicle. Otherwise it was perfect. It would’ve been even better if the weather had participated-it was raining and foggy all week. We still had a great time and would highly recommend camping here.

Nice park. Nice showers. Spoke to some through hikers on the AT. Did some hiking of our own down to both waterfalls. Did not have the time to check out the Visitor Center. Next time.

We were there May 19-21, 2021. Good campsite. Minor gripes: Grass needed to be mowed. Campsites are quite close to each other. No internet or cell reception (Verizon) at the campsite, but free wifi is available at the lodge (about 1/4 mi away). Showers $1.75/5 min (did not use). Quite a bit of very noisy maintenance conducted on the two restrooms that bracket our campsite while we were there. Water fountain outside the restroom was inop.
