Every year my high school friends like to get together for a weekend camping trip. we usually go during the summer to various rivers around the area, but we chose Big Meadows this year. It was a total of 4 of us. We had two 3-person tents, one large tent and a hammock and we had plenty of room. This is a great campsite and had a great time. Bathroom is a quick walk. Two of us had T-Mobile and we had 2-5 bars 5G, fwiw

Beautiful campsites in the woods with deer walking through and ample storage in the bear bins for food and other camp supplies that we shouldnt leave out.

We were in one of the outer tent sites in a gorgeous grove of trees. It was beautiful. We saw lots of deer, and the kids got to meet some through hikers on the AT, which skirts the back of the campground (high season for the through hikers in Shenandoah is May and June).

Terrific experience from the time we checked in until we left. Rapidan Camp hike is a must (and much less popular than many other great hikes that are better known). Food at Skyland Lodge is great (as is their new outdoor patio area) and Pizza at Big Meadows taproom was surprisingly good. Camp stores throughout the park are well stocked. Looking forward to coming back many times.

This site provides the perfect combination of privacy and amenities. we were far enough away from the other sites, that you could enjoy your personal space, yet a short walk to the facilities, (shower and restrooms). Absolutely love the area. Great place to set up base camp, and go for short adventures during the day. The Cell service is non existent, but that didn't bother me a bit. That is part of the reason I love camping so much.

I stay in the same set of tent-only campsites every July. Great location, away from the road and fairly quiet depending on the neighbors and their pets. I've always enjoyed Big Meadows, and it's close to lots of great hiking trails. I've never had a bad experience.
