Very peaceful, great views and lots of deer roaming around. Only complaint was cars and trucks going well over the 10 mph speed limit. Trucks pulling RVs doing the same. Its unsafe and why the hurry. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

we loved our stays in big meadow campgrounds. it was our first-time visit to Shenandoah national park

We camped overnight in a tent. This is one of my least favorite public campgrounds, given how crowded it is, the lack of free showers, and the difficulty getting a reservation. You can't beat the location, though, and access to the many trails and such in this part of the park!

Very well maintained campground, campsites and bathrooms. The fact that the showers, small store and the lodge with its taproom and restaurant are within walking range is great. Also multiple hikes around the campground. Highly recommend the Blackrock trail for a nice view. Took me about 7 minutes from the lodge to the viewpoint, well worth it. Would return if in the area for camping.
