After passing overflowing parking areas at trailheads and overlooks (a sunny Sunday in late OCT brings an onslaught of visitors), I arrived just after Check-in time to NO LINE to register! Hooray. I got to my site and got set up with no neighbors...yet. I remembered the regular spigots are turned off late in the season and got water at the insulated one next to the D loop rest room, for hiking, coffee and extinguishing my campfire. I enjoyed walking to the Black Rock viewpoint just past the Lodge, then back out to the Visitor Center which was mobbed. Staff was managing the crowds well and I got a couple Q's answered after waiting my turn in a short line. After returning and organizing hiking stuff, I headed to the Meadow Spring trailhead to hike to Mary's Rock for the sunset. I found a small crowd there also waiting but got some great pics and enjoyed watching do the same. I decided to return before sunset to got back to my car without needing a headlamp. I enjoyed a fire back at my campsite, with a few "habituated" deer walking just feet away munching the bushes, and watched the stars come out! I could see the Milky Way and was happy for a very quiet loop all night. The heated rest rooms and hot running water are a simple pleasure when temps turn south of 45 degrees. Next day I hiked the Cedar Run - White Oak Canyon loop which is my 2nd fav after Old Rag Mtn. I got beautiful sunny skies with cool temps perfect for Fall hiking. The Run, cascades and the waterfalls all had plenty of water in them! Then I goofed off the rest of the afternoon at my campsite, soaking up the warm sunshine before enjoying another campfire and dinner before retiring. Ahhhh, batteried recharged.

Very nice campground with plenty of space. Plant life provides some privacy from other campers. I will go back again in the spring when the water is flowing to check out some waterfalls. Bathrooms are clean and close by

The Rangers at the Big Meadows visitor center were awesome at suggesting hikes that were appropriate for my kids and really enjoyable. We loved tent camping at Big Meadows. The showers were hot and the laundry room was clean. Only wifi is at the lodge up the hill, no cell service at the campground which was actually nice for unplugging.

Awesome campground located right in the center of the park. Very close to everything you may need. Fuel, firewood, food, gift shop, etc. A lot of the main hikes are also within a few miles of the campground. Great overall experience!

There is no place like Big Meadows. It is pure magic. This was our second trip and both have been wonderful. So many sites to chose from, great facilities, bathhouses are scattered so all sites are just a short walk to one. The showers are clean and kept sanitized. The rangers on duty are all so helpful and there are SO many hikes throughout the park. We did Rose River Falls to Dark Hollow and up the fire road last June and this year we did Hawksbill and South River Falls. South River Falls is fabulous but a tough hike back up the mountain! We will go back year after year!

1st time here and very impressed with the Park. Would recommend the website use a descriptive narrative to describe each site. Slope is very important when selecting the sites with larger RV/Trailers.

I could not find acceptable spot on my reserved site to pitch tent. There were two choices... on a slope or in hole. Sadly, campsites at Big Meadows don't have tent pads. They found me another site which was very small and located right on the road. I'm glad they have upgraded sites with new picnic tables and bear boxes. Just hope they also plan to deploy tent pads sometime soon. The other accommodations during my visit were good and met expectations.

Great campsite. Showers were clean (and hot!); restrooms well maintained.
