We made reservations on recreation.gov for this campground on the morning of arrival for two nights. We spent the first night and went on a wonderful hike from the campground. On arriving back to our site we had a ticket saying we had not obtained a camping permit. We tried to find a ranger to show him the email confirmation of our reservation but no luck. Office closed, no phone number. We have had to send emails to the national headquarters who say they havent received the ticket yet and it could be 6-8 weeks. They said it may even come to a court appearance to fight this. Loved the park but this reservation system with no rangers to talk too is not working. We could be dealing with this for months.

Beautiful location and site. Our only problem was that someone was set up in the spot we reserved. And there was no campground host to go to. But this may have been due to the govt shutdown.

Absolutely loved it! Gorgeous views and close to the trails. Loved how close it was to the lighthouse.

Most sites are dirt or grass, very unlevel and without privacy. Very good access to the lake but the shore is all slate-like rock with no sand beach or water access. We visited twice in September and were tormented by biting flies. They looked like ordinary house flies but their bites were painful. They were so bad that few campers ate outside. Check in was at the Union Bay campground and was efficient. We did not use the restrooms or showers. Because of the lack of water access and the flies, we will not return.

A beautiful fall getaway. The campground is basic. Put toilets were clean and well maintained. Our site (#6) was close to the walkway to the beach and the trail to the lighthouse. The trail to the lighthouse was great to get our pup out for a nice hike.

Always happy to score a reservation at 12 mile or Hurricane. One of our favorite places to camp and hike. We appreciated to chance to be notified when a cancelation came up that fit our plans. Great campgrounds and a wonderful place to be.

Absolutely spectacular campground. We stayed at the lower site 6. Garbage was changed regularly and the bathrooms were extremely tidy. We appreciated the built in lantern pole at our site and also the cooking grate available on the fire ring. The beach was just a very short walk from our site and we enjoyed looking up at the stars from there. The river running into the lake was just beautiful. Grand Marais is about 15 minutes from the campground and Sable Falls, Log Slide are just down the road from the campground. Be sure to bring enough wood as we found it difficult to find some local. Come prepared because Grand Marais is the closest place to purchase forgotten items. This place is gorgeous!

I appreciated the elevated pad for my tent. The fire ring was nice. The pole for my Coleman lantern put it over the top. I was late getting to the campsite and had to set up my tent in the dark. The elevated light from my lantern on the pole made it much more manageable.I enjoyed the rustic nature of the site with the toilet facilities just across the road. If I get the chance I'd love to visit again.

Both upper and lower loops of Hurricane River have their charm. We loved the large secluded campsite #1 on the upper loop. Many shady trees for hammocks and tarps, and a great level tent platform.

The camp host is a good person, I did have some issues getting water out of the well though. The black flies can be horrid in this campground as well on a warm day. Even in September

We stayed at the upper loop. Lovely spacious wooded sites, well separated from others. Very quiet when we were there after labor day. Easy access to good trails. Great spot!

Very nice sites with level tent pitching area. The sites are spread out more than average which gives some level of privacy. While the toilets are of the pit type they were well maintained and better than expected, we didnt have to wear gas masks. The campgrounds location is just an eighth of a mile from the Lake Superior shoreline and the shoreline trail. Its a lovely spot!

Although we input our specs for our travel trailer when reserving the site, it was a very tight fit. We also purposely reserved a generator site, making sure we were respectful of quiet hours but we were still harassed by the campground host for DAYTIME generator use AND wrongfully accused of running it all night. It was a nice area though and all in all, we did enjoy our stay.

The campsite is roomy and private. It is an easy walk to the beach and bathrooms. My only issue with the campsite (#1 lower level) is that when it rains, there are many deep puddles of water because of how the water runs into the campsite. However, the water drains relatively quickly (several hours after a downpour).

We loved our stay at Hurricane River CG. It's right on Lake Superior, with a gorgeous beach (perfect for sunset!) and access to the North Country Trail. Close to Grand Marais & Munising, it was a great basecamp to explore all that Pictured Rocks has to offer. Our site was semi-private, shaded, had great hammock trees, and neighbors were respectful of quiet hours. Highly recommend!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
