I was in site 3 and it was a very good spot. This is a very quiet campground within walking distance of the lake. No bug issues either which was a big plus, I highly recommend it.

Campsite was clean, though we couldn't move the picnic table which made for awkward setup with two tents. The campsite is basic and water is a bit far away from most sites to be convenient. Vault toilets were cleaned daily and garbage pick up was daily. Au Sable Falls and Dunes were spectacular and all is within minutes car ride from this campsite. For the getting to the visitor center by Grand Marais was convenient. However, don't expect to be able to buy things in the store as it was never staffed when we were there. That was super frustrating. Apparently that is a different contract from the park employees.

The spacing between camp spots was refreshing. Pit toilet was best smelling, cleanest I had ever used. Want to go back there for extended stay.

Great campground with a short hike down to the lake. Thankful for the water source close by!

The best part of this campground is the size of the sites. Unlike some nearby commercial campgrounds there is more privacy at Hurricane River. It is in the woods so expect bugs.

Beautiful, small, quiet campground. The mosquitoes were really bad when we were there, but the park employee told us that's unusual. We only had pit toilets, but the park employees kept them really clean. We had trash and recycling conveniently located in different parts of the campground. There was a nice trail from the Upper Loop to the Lower Loop and from there we get access to the beach and the North Country Scenic Trail that connects to Twelvemile Beach and Au Sable Light Station. The Hurricane River Beach was wonderful and we had fun watching the brook trout going up the river.

The Hurricane River campgrounds are very comfortable. We stayed in the Upper Loop, which is further from the shore but perhaps quieter, not that the Lower Loop was loud. I wish there was a place within the campgrounds where we could buy fire wood, like at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, for example. You'll see many people selling wood by the side of the road, so availability isn't the issue. It was a lovely experience, and can't wait to get back there again.

Quiet campground and nice location to explore the east side of Pictured Rocks . Here you'll see the Hurricane River empty into Lake Superior and you can walk the beach 1½ miles east to the Au Sable Light Station. Shipwreck remains can be found along this beach and pets are allowed. Other attractions nearby are Sable Falls, Log Slide, and Twelve Mile Beach.
