Great campsite, we stayed at site 27. Would stay here again. It was very private with easy access to the beach!

The biting flies were so overbearing I could barely spend any time outside. Do not bring anything colorful as that seemed to attract them most. The cabin did have fly paper up so they tried.

the most beautiful campsite ever!!! On the bluff, walk down dunes to beach, watch sunset!!

I wish I could honestly rate it lower so it wouldn't be so difficult to get a campsite. Love the sunsets and the spacious beach for walking. We visit the log slide every summer becuase the kids think it is so fun to jump down to the lake and then crawl back up. Bring bug spray or screens in the event biting flies or skeeters are around.

Gorgeous views!

We were on site 7. It was very large site direct view on the beach and access very close. The only downside was the bugs. A lot of flies.

A breathtaking view, a well-maintained campground, and a stunning beach. Unfortunately, we werent able to enjoy any of it. Hundreds of biting flies tormented us relentlessly and took away all the joy from our visit.

Beautiful, peaceful, and secluded campground! Bring bug spray and download offline Google maps before you go!. There is no cell reception at the campground and it is patchy in the Upper Penninsula in general. Beware of the black flies, which were unbearable for one day only during our trip during the 4th of July weekend. We have camped at many lakeside campgrounds in the Lower Penninsula many times over the years and have had some experiences with black flies, but this was on another level! Mosquitos were also bad, but at least they responded to bug spray (the flies did not!). Site 15's driveway is very sandy, but we were able to back our front wheel drive car in just enough to not be handing in the campground's road. Site 15 is also right across the road from the bathroom. We booked this site last minute and I'm not sure I would stay in it again since the door slamming noise any time someone went in or out and periodic smell was not pleasant. Lastly, site 15's highlight is definitely its beach access! There is a steep but short sand climb right to the beach, and the water is visible from the campsite. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Twelvemile Beach campground and I'm sure we will be back some day!

This cabin must be on your camping bucket list. You basically get your own private beach with perfect views of the sunset. You park about halfway through the campground and have to walk to the end of the campground before getting on the North Country Trail for a few minutes. The trail has a few roots and small inclines but you can still easily bring a wagon through to carry your stuff.

Beautiful campground with beach access and the nicest cleanest outhouses I've ever seen. The mosquitoes were pretty bad, and there were some stable flies too. There is no dump station or place to fill a camper tank in the park. Also, the campsites could use maintenance. There were some large dead trees and branches which should be removed for safety. Our tent pad was partially drifted with sand. We didn't need it, but it would have been hard to pitch a tent if we did.

Quiet and remote sites with beautiful views of Lake Superior. One of our fave camp spots. Clean primitive toilets.
@DavidE7840041 · Camped on Jun 29, 2025
Perfect spot on Lake Superior. It is a very short walk from the parking so you can easily bring in whatever you need and come and go as you please. Just beware that black flies can be a significant issue earlier in the season June-early July!

This must be one of the most stunningly beautiful places in the world. Rustic, small sites are perfect for small camper or tent camping. Decent vault toilets. Still weather brings unbelievably intense mosquitoes and flies - repellent is not effective, have a bug proof space that you can live in until the wind picks up. Head nets are essential and dogs will suffer. Hiking options are excellent.

I love cabins! This one is very basic and we definitely had issues with flies and mosquitoes getting inside, but that's late June for you.The location is absolutely amazing. You're set apart from the main campground and steps away from Lake Superior. There's a landing at the top of the stairs where you can sit and take in the view. The hike is 0.5 mile from the parking spot and about 0.25mi from the edge of the campground. You can temporarily park at the trail entrance to drop off gear, which cuts your walk in half.

May give advanced notice about the spring fly infestation. Lol other than that, great experience!

Beautiful cabin! Wrong time of year. The black biting flies were insane we left a day early. Dont come mid June.

Beautiful views, clean campsite, convenient trash/recycling and restrooms, respectful and friendly neighbors. Great experience!

Beautiful campground. My kids loved running down the sand dunes to the beach. We stayed at 17 across from a good beach access spot but 25 is the best in the park in my opinion. Vault toilets and lots of mosquitoes/flies when we were there. Easy access to pictured rocks national lakeshore.

Wish I could have had more time to stay at this place.

We loved the beautiful campground. The view was amazing. It was very quiet and peaceful. The campground hosts were so nice and hospitable. However, the biting flies were really bad. Bring a table screen tent to protect yourself and enjoy.

Campground is overall beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained. Campsites are roomy and pretty private. Pit toilets were clean and serviced twice during our five day stay. Beach is beautiful and easy to get to. Campground is nicely situated in the middle of the National Park with a quick, well-marked drive to both Grand Marais and Munising. Verizon cell service was reasonable on the beach itself, although non-existent on the roads or at the campsites.The only complaint we had is the mosquitos, which were over the top awful in mid-June. As soon as we left the car, we got swarmed - even threw Off Deep Woods. There were so many that it sent our dog into anaphylaxis and we had to find another place to stay. None of the other parts of the national park were nearly as buggy. I still think the campground was nice, but I wish I had known how bad the mosquitos would be.

Camped mid June. Fantastic campground right off Twelvemile Beach. Site 13 convenient (in between) to the water and the bathrooms but plenty of space between so no issues whatsoever with noise, traffic, odors, etc. Mosquito's around but came prepared so they were not bothersome. Looking forward to camping here again. Peace and quiet, sound of Lake Superior and nature very serene. Good home base for exploring all Pictured Rocks Nat'l Lakeshore has to offer.

Great primitive camp site. The road to the site coming off the main road was very well maintained. The vault restroom was very clean. The location of the camp site to the beach was amazing. Be warned, the mosquitoes were nearly unbearable. If you did not have a fire going or a high wind coming off the lake you were covered in mosquitoes.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
