Beautiful location. Awesome hiking on the north country trail which runs right through the campground along the lake.

Spacious enough for our tent and car and with a well placed fire pit and picnic table. The access to the beach was honestly perfect. We heard the waves slapping on the shore nearby by there was enough tree coverage that the wind wasnt an issue. You can walk maybe 50 feet and sit on the sandy hillside down to the beach and see all the stars and satellites in the sky. The toilets were close enough to be convenient but far enough away that they werent part of your experience. Theres also a very close water fountain nearby. No tree coverage that theres spots for shade, but enough sunlight gets through that you can charge small mobile solar panels. Loved this site.

Gorgeous beach and nice campsites. We experienced a storm with high winds in a site that is not sheltered from the lake and will be buying a more wind proof and waterproof tent before camping at twelve mile again!

Can't get any better than right on Lake Superior. A Pictured Rocks boat tour is a must.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever camped! We had a big private site directly on Lake Superior with lovely sunset views. There was no electricity or water or cell service but that was the biggest plus of all as it offered an opportunity to truly get away from it all. There can be no better experience than waking in the morning to coffee and breakfast made over a Coleman stove. We did lots of hiking over the course of three days and saw lots of beautiful scenery. It was pretty much peak autumn color and we were away from the crowds of summer, so a perfect stay!

The only issue I had is that I called the park and. I answer my call for two days?

Twelvemile is the absolute BEST place to camp in the Upper Peninsula. My ONLY complaint is how impossible it is to book. I’ve been coming for three years now and can only manage to get 1-2 nights in a row. This past trip, the campsite right across from ours was booked for one full week and for the two nights we were there, that campsite remained empty. We talked to the host and he knew exactly what we were talking about. It’s just very frustrating for people like me who would LOVE to stay at Twelvemile for a full week, while there’s others who are taking that away from people like me. There should be a policy enforced to where if you don’t show up to your campsite at an allotted time, you now forfeit your campsite for the remainder of your time.

Beautiful view and location. Very rustic campground. We had a 23 ft camper travel trailer and were able to park it on site 14 fine, but it is narrow (with trees on each side) so a bit challenging while you're backing in. Beautiful view of Lake Superior at the campsite and you can walk down to the Lake Superior sandy beach. The trails and beach at this campsite are dog-friendly, so if you have a dog this is a good campground with NPS Picture Rocks to camp at.
