I would not recommend camping south of the outhouses because they smell.Campfire wood is hard to access so pick some up prior to arrival. If camping in a camper you will need to fill your water prior to arrival. Water access at TwelveMile Beach is via a small, solar spigot with no hose adapter. This a a very wooded campground. It rained our entire trip rendering our solar panels ineffective. After 4 days, our battery power was minimal. It is a beautiful campground and very peaceful, however. All of the above is a moot point if in a tent. We have done both over the years at TwelveMile Beach.

Very remote campsite with no cell service, which is what I was looking for. Beautiful views of Lake Superior. The campsite had ample space between us and both neighbors. Roadways were maintained and the site driveway was nice and wide. If you want firewood, it needs to be purchased offsite, as none is for sale at the campground.

Never been to a more beautiful location! We went early in the season and there was not a bug to be found. Would definitely love to come back sometime.

We stayed at 24 and it was gorgeous. Its a shame that its so complicated to get a site. We were talking to the camp host and someone never even showed up at a reserved spot for 5 days!!! What a waste- people should really be respectful and cancel so others have a chance to experience this beauty!

Beautiful campground. Quiet neighbors. Lucked out in terms of bugs in mid-June, almost none due to a cold snap. Highly recommend the non-generator loop for quietest experience. Also, check out pics of campsites before reserving because they vary a decent amount in terms of size.

Several things diminished our latest experience at 12mile. Storms had wiped out two of the three stairways to the beach so reaching the beach was a not convenient for most campers. Campsites were wonderful as usual. An aggressive NPS ranger was not very friendly to dog owners and said that if people wanted to bring their dogs camping they should not come to a National Park. One couple who left their dog off lease to fetch a ball in the lake on a beach devoid of people were fined $130! Friendly people, friendly dog. Boy, he really showed them. Other rangers we have met at 12 Mile have been friendly and interested in the visitors; this guy not so. But asked him about rules, he loves to recite them.

This campground backs right up to the beaches of Lake Superior in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The water is crystal clear and the grounds are spotless. Truly immersive in nature with sights nearby that can be hiked to and astound you. Highly recommend the Mosquito/Chapel Trailhead. About a 30-minute drive from campground to parking lot at start of hike, but contains some of the most beautiful sights you'll ever see. Definitely coming back.

Be prepared for strong winds off the lake, beautiful sunsets and biting flies (at certain times).

Loud and inconsiderate campers at the site next door greatly impacted my experience. If you are planning for a large group, please get a group site. Some people need to be reminded that a campground is not their backyard.

Beautiful campground. It's fun to stay put and enjoy the trails, beech and Lake Superior but plenty of things to see within a short driving distance.

Beautiful campground and beach! We werent able to leave the shelter of our van much because of the weather but the scenery was great and the fall foliage was spectacular! There was no cell service and the area is pretty remote so be sure to come prepared.

Amazing campground with spectacular views of Lake Superior. We stayed in site 24 and had a wonderful time. Our tent pad was a bit small for our 14x9 tent, but we made it work and listening to the waves at night was perfect. Fire pit had a grate and the site came with a hanging pole for our lantern which was nice. The campground is clean, the host is so friendly and we saw her often. Although the bathroom was a vault toilet, it was cleaned often. Fresh water is available and easy to find. Steps leading down to the beach are easy to access and the beach is awesome!! Husband and I walked the white birch trail and literally had the whole forest to ourselves. We decided not to do the activities planned (Pictured Rocks Cruise) because it was so nice and easy to relax right at the campground. Without cell service, it was great for our kids to unplug and skip rocks, for hours, on the lake. I would love to stay here again and highly recommend it!!

This was the most amazing campsite I've ever had. Lots of distance between the sites and very quiet. Perched up over lake superior with easy access to the beach, incredible sunsets, and very friendly campground hosts! It's a little bit of a drive to get to all the major hiking sites, but so worth it to stay here!
