Great place to spend some quiet days. Campground was clean, sites we large and well maintained. Trails were well marked and easy to access.

The location of the campground and the privacy of the campsites are great. We were in site 21 which is a back-in site tucked into the woods. Our rig uses a 30 amp service, however the 30 amp electrical service has an open ground (error message on my surge protector), so it was not safe. The 50 amp service was okay and the camp host, who is great, lent us an adapter. When we spoke to the park maintenance manager, his reply was the electric was old and they didnt have any budget, so have a nice day. Also, the showers only have a hot water feed, so the showers are scolding hot. These issues have been from a longterm lack of maintenance. They did post a sign warning you that the showers will scold you rather than fixing them by adding a cold water feed. I assume this sign is an attempt to limit their liability.

Some lighting issues in the common areas, and insufficient signage make for minor inconveniences. Like some people using bathroom sinks for dish washing while others wait to wash their hands. A good permanent sign could reduce this. But there is none. Otherwise this place is great! Hosts are friendly, guests usually are too.

The showers had only scalding hot water. Cold water line was not even hooked up. Lots of ticks but that is okay. Other than the showers it was an okay camping venture.

There were 2 showers that had issues with the water temperature being scalding and you could not adjust it. The drains in the showers did NOT drain so you had to stand in standing water. There was only 1 working toilet. The bathrooms were filthy, the trash overflowing and the only trash dump was outside the park. There was no water spouts to connect to. They had about 4 HAND PUMPS. I wish I had known about this sooner because I would not have booked this campground.

Just the typical issues for this campground: - in the showers: no working light, floor drain backs up, water temp is not adjustable and hot enough to scald! - could not take a shower!- sites rarely cleaned- queen size mattress lying on ground next to dumpster for the last 2 years. Really??!! Looks like an abandoned property.- water fill tower leaks at the top syphon break: it's a shower! Bring your umbrella.

Campsite was great but the restrooms and showers need a lot of work. The campground is on the river but the wood stairs are closed and you have to take some rough trails to get there. It's a shame because there is a long sandy beach on the river with great views. It's pretty evident the campground has been neglected for a long time.

We have been here multiple times - this was not our first time. But the burn ban was pretty dissapointing to learn about - but iit was too late to cancel reservations. Secondly, the shower house water needs to be fixed -it was scalding hot and then turned cold in about 5 minutes. Plus the water flooded almost out of the shower room. Lastly they need to repair a path to the beach access.

Nice Campground and the Camp Host at the time I visited was the best Host ever! The only downside is some sites are tight and even if deep enough for a Motorhome my site 13 was so tight I could barely put my slides out. Unfortuantely they anchored the picnic table right in the prime parking area.A worthy note is Flaners Beach Camground has a beach there is no ACCESS to. That's not an issue for me but if you head there for the Beach, good luck.The town of New Bern was Lovely and we're going back. But I won't get 13 again! The showers could use a coat of paint and some updating, but brign your own water, the well water is highly untasty.It was worth every penny however, these Federal Campgrounds are a bargain and with a PASS, it's also a super bargain!

Very nice campground with beautiful view of the water. Sites are generous size and many are shaded. Bathhouse is a bit dated but adequate.

The campground watermain broke three weeks prior to my reservation. All the bathrooms were closed. No porta potties onsite. No one posted the issue on the recreation.gov website. No one knows when the watermain is going to get fixed. The biologist and the Engineer employed for the Croaton NF were let go. So lack of personnel. Otherwise, the beach was beautiful.

No water. It kind of ruined the whole trip.

No working showers. Sign on the door by the campsite manager saying they were trying to get them working.

Very quiet in off season. Some leveling required at our site.

Our first visit to Flanners Beach CG. We will be back. We spent a week here, and the campground was pretty quiet the whole time. The campsites are private. Plenty of walking trails through some beautiful coastal forest land, which is what we like. Just a few miles north of the campground is where you will find B&J Seafood, which we highly recommend.

Great place to camp!
@BillC8113752 · Camped on Dec 23, 2024 at Campsite #9
Great except for the shower which needs hotter water and lack of drinkable water at campsite.
@RAYMONDB773879 · Camped on Dec 18, 2024 at Campsite #2
A nice little campground with a mix of open and shaded sites. Most RV sites will accommodate big rigs to 40ft. A few walking trails and visitors center nearby. New Bern (12miles north) and Havelock (10miles south) offer grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and supplies. Sites are gravel, fairly level and fairly private. Only 30/50 electric at sites but a couple of community spigots with drinking water available. Cell coverage can be a little spotty but I've generally gotten a reliable and sufficiently strong enough signal to work remote, including video calls.

We have stayed at Flanners Beach several times, because it is close to all our grand kids. Never had any issues booking a site. Love the area.

This was our 4th visit to Flanner's Beach Campground. It is a wonderful old campground. The camp hosts maintain it very well, are helpful and unobtrusive. The facilities are a bit dated but clean and serviceable. We'll be coming back again.

We love Flanners beach campground. We have stayed here many times. The sites are nice, the bathhouses is clean, the walking trail closest to the campground is paved and the campground is quiet. The only negative is you cannot get to the beach anymore. It has been closed since Hurricane Florence. This needs to be corrected.
@JeffreyD84C840 · Camped on Nov 13, 2024 at Campsite #4
Campsite was pretty clean, some micro trash but not bad. Been here twice this year, love it!
@DonaldH6846342 · Camped on Nov 12, 2024 at Campsite #6
This campground is kept very clean. The restrooms and showers are old but well-maintained. The campsites do not have water or sewer provisions. There is an area where fresh water can be obtained. There is also a dump site at the camp area entrance.
@JohnL4419148 · Camped on Nov 10, 2024 at Campsite #15
The host was very helpful. However we did manage to have some very disrespectful types camping across the road from us and it is crazy that damage caused in hurricane Florence in 2018 is not yet repaired so you can not access the beach.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
