Stayed at Site # 7 for 4 nights. We had NO complaints or issues with the campground or area. Glad to see that it's still possible to get down to the river, always enjoy walking the trails. Havelock, the free ferry across the river, and New Bern are all very close and worthwhile trips.We've stayed at this campground several times and look forward to our next time there.

Love this campground! So peaceful & love being so close to Flanners. The bathrooms were so clean and the campground host was very hospitable.

The park is always in always pretty nice to me. Still waiting on the beach area repair; however, you can access the water to fish and perhaps wade (I didn't do either). There is a lot of highway construction in the area so a lot of attention to traffic is required. Walked the trails which are asphalt and shaded. Usually try to make it to Flanners at least once a year and will continue.

Large and private sites. Great little get away!

I visit this campground each year in September as my home base as a Volunteer for the MS 150 Bike Fundraiser. I love the campground its locality to New Bern and you can't beat the price. Very quiet here too. My only complaint is the fire pits. As a veteran camper part of my enjoyment is our campfire. The replacement pits that were put in after Hurricane Floyd are an abomination. They are literally 3.5 feet of solid steel. You have to be 1.5 feet from the pit to actually see your fire. Not to mention that they are not cleaned out of a regular basis so there is 2 feet of soot and ash, other peoples burnt food and scraps piling up. The good news of this is if they don't clean them, you actually get to watch your fire. its just 3.5 off the ground. What is the point?

We love this campground, for us its local and a great place to get away for the weekend without being too far. The hosts were wonderful, we had trouble that necessitated us leaving the unexpectedly the first night. Fortunately we were able to come back and finish our stay. I had told them they could let someone else use the site, but they saved it as a last resort and so we were able to go back to our planned site. They were helpful and friendly, just what you want in camp hosts!

My only reason for 2 stars is that fact the beach is still closed, otherwise it would be 5 stars.Upon checking in we did not have the right converter plug. We were at site 8, had a 30 amp trailer but the power was 50amp. Went to the host and they immediately came to the site and brought us the correct plug. They were so helpful ! Park was clean, bathrooms were clean

Beach has not been restored. Bathroom needs renovation. Also could use cleaning.

This is okay for a short stay. Sorry that the beach is not open.

We loved the location and the towns around us. We went down to the Neseu River and it inspired us to purchase Kayaks to use. we did get to use them once. We went to Cherry Point Church. It was great. It was hard to choose a church since there are so many in the area. We went to Ft Macon as a drive by but did not get to come back. We are definately putting that on a list to do.

This was my second time to stay at this campsite. I traveled down to visit my son who is currently station at Atlantic Beach in the USCG. The campsite is a perfect time away from the busy life. Quiet, clean and excellent camping experience.

We enjoyed the stay and the trails. The restroom / showers need a little updating and cleaning. However, we used them the length that we stayed (7 days).

Great place to spend some quiet days. Campground was clean, sites we large and well maintained. Trails were well marked and easy to access.

The location of the campground and the privacy of the campsites are great. We were in site 21 which is a back-in site tucked into the woods. Our rig uses a 30 amp service, however the 30 amp electrical service has an open ground (error message on my surge protector), so it was not safe. The 50 amp service was okay and the camp host, who is great, lent us an adapter. When we spoke to the park maintenance manager, his reply was the electric was old and they didnt have any budget, so have a nice day. Also, the showers only have a hot water feed, so the showers are scolding hot. These issues have been from a longterm lack of maintenance. They did post a sign warning you that the showers will scold you rather than fixing them by adding a cold water feed. I assume this sign is an attempt to limit their liability.

Some lighting issues in the common areas, and insufficient signage make for minor inconveniences. Like some people using bathroom sinks for dish washing while others wait to wash their hands. A good permanent sign could reduce this. But there is none. Otherwise this place is great! Hosts are friendly, guests usually are too.
@PeterF7272337 · Camped on May 14, 2025 at Campsite #28
The showers had only scalding hot water. Cold water line was not even hooked up. Lots of ticks but that is okay. Other than the showers it was an okay camping venture.
@EileenS29602B1 · Camped on May 9, 2025 at Campsite #16
There were 2 showers that had issues with the water temperature being scalding and you could not adjust it. The drains in the showers did NOT drain so you had to stand in standing water. There was only 1 working toilet. The bathrooms were filthy, the trash overflowing and the only trash dump was outside the park. There was no water spouts to connect to. They had about 4 HAND PUMPS. I wish I had known about this sooner because I would not have booked this campground.

Just the typical issues for this campground: - in the showers: no working light, floor drain backs up, water temp is not adjustable and hot enough to scald! - could not take a shower!- sites rarely cleaned- queen size mattress lying on ground next to dumpster for the last 2 years. Really??!! Looks like an abandoned property.- water fill tower leaks at the top syphon break: it's a shower! Bring your umbrella.
@RayL8265363 · Camped on Apr 4, 2025 at Campsite #20
Campsite was great but the restrooms and showers need a lot of work. The campground is on the river but the wood stairs are closed and you have to take some rough trails to get there. It's a shame because there is a long sandy beach on the river with great views. It's pretty evident the campground has been neglected for a long time.
@NatashaC976513 · Camped on Mar 21, 2025 at Campsite #7
We have been here multiple times - this was not our first time. But the burn ban was pretty dissapointing to learn about - but iit was too late to cancel reservations. Secondly, the shower house water needs to be fixed -it was scalding hot and then turned cold in about 5 minutes. Plus the water flooded almost out of the shower room. Lastly they need to repair a path to the beach access.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
