The campground is clean and quite. The spaces are large. We enjoyed having a covered picnic table area. The down side is there really isn't any place to swim at this park. Overall we enjoyed our stay and plan to go back.

No security at the park. No tags for inside your vehicle or any other method to insure that you are a paying guest. No check in at the gate and no gates period at the entrance. Strong smell of marijuana at the boat ramp and at least one site. Ive been camping at Sandy Creek for 40+ years and have never seen it like this.

Park was nice and clean. The host that hailed from nearby Vidor, Texas was most polite and personable. We were just passing through for the night and this was a good choice.The week before as we were passing through in the other direction, we stayed a night at Magnolia Ridge COE on the NW side of the highway/lake. That park is aptly named for the HUGE Magnolia trees that were all in bloom with their sweet smelling flowers. Both parks are very mature in age and somewhat dated and that kind of keeps them less popular. For entrance to Sandy Creek, the preferred entry is to take enter from Hwy 777 at Beech Grove onto road 155 rather than road 156 off of US190. It is in far better condition although still somewhat a bit narrow and rough.

Longer spots need 50 amps for longer rv's. There are 50 amps on short driveway for a pop up to 24 ft campers, they don't need 50 amps. I mentioned this issue every time, why ask if nothing gets fixed?

Great campgrounds with excellent volunteers who helped out by answering questions when needed.

Arrived to find no power at my site on Easter Sunday! Had to track down the duty camp host to repair.The bathhouse on the loop I was on is TERRIBLE and needs to be rebuilt. Stainless steel toilets? Prison quality!!

Had a great time at Sandy Creek. Great spot on the water with boat access. Plenty of room for tent and yard games. Bathroom was clean everytime but they are old and the shower room doesnt drain very well. Bring shower shoes. Also, the playground has been torn down but that only dampened our spirits for a moment. Most beautiful sunsets youll ever see are right here on Dam-B.

We always enjoy our time in this park, the sunrise and sunset, late evening walks and bike rides are the best!

This is a decent park. Showers not that great. Lots of sites on the water. nice drive to the dam and walk across. Roads are decent for walking or biking. Nice covered table. Fire pit and bbq. Nice sunsets.

The layout of the grounds was beautiful and serene. I stayed in a fifth wheel at site 19, which was adjacent to a boat launch that creates a bit of activity, but I stayed during the off-season. All areas were clean, and maintained however, the bathroom and shower were dated with obvious signs of the presence of hard water.

Great campground. Nice, quiet and remote, with excellent lake front views. Road inside campground is new and in great shape. County road leading up to it was quite worn and rutted.

Campground was mostly empty so it was very quiet. Weather wasn't the best, cold with lots of rain the one night. Only con was when I went to unplug the electric, the post was surrounded by standing water. We had site #46, most of the other sites were fine.

We really enjoyed our time at Sandy Creek!Of course it would be nice to have a sewer hook up, but otherwise it was beautiful and peaceful. Go into Jasper and eat at the Cedar Tree. Its the best!

Peaceful and relaxing and friendly and away from folks that want nothing but drama. I will go back there. I loved it and my fur babies did too

The campsite was nice and in a great location. However, the park host across from site 72 has dogs that bark a lot. We ended up having to move to the other side of the park to enjoy some peace and quiet.

The campground is excellent and well taken care of. We had an excellent time. I would love for there to be a playground for the kids and if that could be added that would be great.

Nice spots. Crowded on the weekend, barely anyone during the week. Beautiful place to camp.
@TerryL3632706 · Camped on Nov 29, 2024 at Campsite #17
Excellent campground right on the lake. The sites are nicely spaced out and the dump station was clean. Wish they had a playground for the kids but other than that nice quiet campground.

My family has been returning to this campground for 58 years and I couldn't face the year without our time in the woods.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
