Park was nice and clean. The host that hailed from nearby Vidor, Texas was most polite and personable. We were just passing through for the night and this was a good choice. The week before as we were passing through in the other direction, we stayed a night at Magnolia Ridge COE on the NW side of the highway/lake. That park is aptly named for the HUGE Magnolia trees that were all in bloom with their sweet smelling flowers. Both parks are very mature in age and somewhat dated and that kind of keeps them less popular. For entrance to Sandy Creek, the preferred entry is to take enter from Hwy 777 at Beech Grove onto road 155 rather than road 156 off of US190. It is in far better condition although still somewhat a bit narrow and rough.

We enjoyed our stay at Sandy Creek Campground. The park is clean, sites are spacious and the park host was very friendly. We will be visiting again for sure.

There was thousands of mayflies at our site, unable to sit outside, tried to change my site to a different section of Park but noone could help me so I left after 1 day and cancelled a 5 day stay. A shame Noone can help with a simple task of moving from one site to another

Everything was great except the long grass. It was understandably uncut because of all the rain. However, there was a guy there mowing. Maybe they could have asked us if we would like our area mowed. I would have loved that and would have put away all our things to let him.

Nice campground. Lots of waterfront sites. A good spot to go and just relax. No place to swim but lots of places to fish.
