It is a nice campground overall. There is no privacy for most of the sites, especially closer to the meadow. Site 004 is very open and exposed to the elements. There are a few trees which provide "some" shade. There are 4 bathrooms (in 1 building), a set of dumpsters, some separatable trash cans, and a few water faucets. These were all located close to the meadow. So, you have to walk a bit to dump trash, grab water, and use the restrooms. Each site has a table and a fire pit. The roads were easy to navigate and the campground looked well-maintained overall. The camp host is located near the entrance on the left hand side. The hiking trails were nice and easy to follow without getting lost. My only complaint is that when it is windy, the campground offers no protection from the full force of the winds. I was in a tent rated to 45mph. The day I was camping, my tent almost collapsed several times throughout the night due to high winds. I even had it reinforced with additional lines. Just a heads-up for tent campers to pay attention to the weather forecast prior to camping. Overall, this is a great place to camp. The French restaurant down the road had delicious burgers and fries. If you are coming in from Julian, the road is a bit rough as it has a lot of cracks and ruts.

The site 1 parking spur is long and wide. It's also fairly level with a slight slant to the front. The site itself is big and clear. There are no neighbors on the camp side, and on the off camp side, site 4 has plenty of separation. There is not much shade, but you might like this during cooler weather, if you have solar or need a clear unobstructed view for Starlink. There was only a max of two bars on Verizon in certain areas. It's a quiet site, with occasional conversations heard or children playing, which is to be expected in a family campground. Cons are the pit toilets, which can occasionally be smelled, even in further sites from the restroom, depending on direction of the wind. It would also be helpful if there were more fresh water spigots spaced around the loops. Lastly, if you have a trailer be forewarned, there are wooded posts that line the streets and spurs. The streets are narrow and it can be challenging with little to no front swing room for your tow vehicle while backing in to your site.

I spent two nights camping at Laguna Campground last weekend and had a wonderful time.The campground is surrounded by tall pine and oak trees, with fresh air, blue skies, and a very peaceful atmosphere. Its a great place to relax and enjoy nature.I rode my bike for more than 10 miles around the big loop trail. The trail goes around small ponds and open meadows, and its mostly flat, which is great for running, hiking, or beginner mountain biking. If you like exploring, there are also many small trails leading into the hills where you can discover even more beautiful views.I saw many birds around the ponds and really enjoyed the scenery. Its a fantastic place for a weekend camping trip. I would definitely come back again.

Very large camp sites in the Meadow loop. Easy access to hiking. The only negative is many of the sites require a moderate amount of leveling if you are in an RV. Still worth 5 stars.

I had the misfortune of driving 8.5 hours to the campground only to find my reserved and paid for campsite occupied by a freeloading family. I had the unsavory task of asking them to leave, which they did (after trying to get me to camp somewhere else, or join them). This was no fault of the campground. I did go find the camp host to let them know what was happening and that the family may have this happen again since they were moving to another reserved but empty site. That's when I met Austin, the camp host. Austin did an excellent job of talking with both of us, separately, and was definitely great at calming my nerves. No escalation, we were all grown-ups about it. I just wanted to give Austin the Great Camp Host a shoutout! Thanks Austin!As for the campground itself, there seemed to be enough room at each site to make it comfortable. Campsites were not on top of each other. The one I was in was in the center of a ring, which was fine. I saw the sites that were on the outside of the ring, and they looked really nice, with enough space and privacy. I was in site 22 on the Shady loop.

Even thought the weather did was not perfect, our time in Laguna was relaxing and we enjoyed unwinding with a fire, a long bike ride and a walk out to the rocks.

Great campsite with a view of the meadow. Note that the pull-in is not level, which is challenging for trailers or rooftop tents

This is our second time camping here and we love it. Even with rain both times, we still had a great experience. We bring our two dogs and love that there are plenty of trails within walking distance and lots of space between campsites for privacy. The only downside is the vault toilets, though theyre well maintained. The site host was very friendly and even came around offering firewood.

Out of toilet paper, no staff seen. People showed up at 2:45am making a ton of noise and camped in their car in the day use next to the bathroom.

The lay out of the railroad ties circling around each campsite causeda lot of difficulty maneuvering in to each site. Possibly the website shouldstate just tenting or no RV's longer than 24 feet? Trees also needed trimming that hung down as campers drove through thepark hitting their vehicles.Also the pit toilets could of used a better cleaning -I did enjoy the spaciousness of each site in our loop. It was nice to have some privacy. The sites are not very level ,but I guess that cant be helped>

one of my favorite place to camp in San Diego.The staffs & views are amazing! The campgrounds are clean & spacious. the only issue we have is that the flushing bathrooms & showers are still not available (it hasn't been opened for a few years now). The toilets in the meadows does get smelly. It's clean, but it smells and can smell it sometimes at the campsite closest to it.

Been visiting Laguna my whole life. It is neat and dear to my heart. Thanksgiving week was so peaceful and the campground was very quiet. The R and R was exactly what my family needed.

Only reason I would not rate this 5 stars was someone squatted on my reserved site. Had to find another spot.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
