There isnt a bad site in cottonwood campground! Fortunately for us, we were traveling with another party because we booked site 47 and there was no way, without a lot of inconvenience, we would have been able to fit our 21 camper in there even though it said it was a bigger site than 69, where we fit perfect. Thankfully we switched and all was good! The campground was picturesque and I will stay there again! We only had 2 nights there but I think we could have spent more.

Theodore Roosevelt NP is a quiet gem. What made this an especially nice campground was how helpful the host was. I had to arrive a day early and he was so helpful switching the dates for me. He said that bison frequent the area and while I saw plenty in the park, I was happy to not have one by my tent!

A few of the sites are in the parking lot. Thankfully there were plenty of first come, first serve sites that were open that I was able to switch to instead. The hosts were great to work with. Very nice bathrooms.

Great scenery. We drove both the South and the north units. I wish I had known there was roads construction on the south loop. We had to turn around instead of completing the loop. But still found it very enjoyable.

Camping in Cottonwood was amazing! The sites were very spacious and our specific site was right along the river. We were able to see wild horses in the river and on the other bank. A herd of bison walked down the river and through the campground one morning as well. It was magical!

Everything was what you would expect for a National park campground except no dump station.

The sites are quite close together however, the orientation of the sites helps increase the level of privacy and solitude. We appreciated the quietness and flush toilets. A solitary bison wandered in and out of our campground one evening, what a magical wilderness experience!

I loved this campground and camp site! A lovely walk to the river where we saw the feral horses each evening. And so many birds! We woke up early for a drive and saw 50+ bison on the road coming down for breakfast. I cant wait to come back and camp here again!

This campground was perfect! We were woken up around 5am to a bison loudly munching on some grass outside our tent which was incredible. The amenities were clean and easy to access. Highly recommend this spot!

Cottonwood campground was a nice, open area. Wildlife was within watching distance, without a fear of being too close. The campground was clean, including the bathrooms. The campground was friendly and knowledgeable.

Cottonwood is a nice campground that has easy access to water and flush toilets. We enjoyed the easy location to the visitor center and the scenic drives. Cottonwood is close to some easy hikes as well.

Camping in Cottonwood was a great spot when we visited TRNP and saw the Medora Musical. The campground had a great bathroom.

This place is a gem. I dont even want to write a review in fear of drawing more attention. Get out of your car, hike around, and you make come face to face with a majestic bison.
@KarenR20722329 · Camped on Jun 28, 2025 at Campsite #49
Excellent site. Not a ton of shade, but right next to the river and we saw buffalo and heard coyotes. Clean restrooms and definitely more peaceful than the Medora Campground.

Camp sites can be a little cramped, but the view is gorgeous! If you cant sleep well at night, maybe dont stay here because youll hear wildlife all night long - I enjoyed it though. Bathrooms are the cleanest Ive ever seen at a campground.
@JeffandD8DCD15 · Camped on Jun 27, 2025 at Campsite #17
Clean, tree-lined park with beautiful vistas convenient to trails and scenic drive. Bison visit within the campground. Campground road is not great for big rig. We have a 44' Class A and we could not avoid the tree limbs. Recommend sites 31, 29, and 44 for larger rigs. odd number sites are reservation only, even number sites are onsite reservation.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
