Campground and bathroom were super nice and well maintained.

Our tent campsite (65) was a bit small and didn't have a good spot for our tent or a dedicated pad but with the exception of a pair of great horned owls perched over our tent in the night, the campground was overall clean and quiet. My son was thrilled to find modern restrooms. Love that you could reserve a site as we drove from quite a distance. As an added bonus a bison liked to bed down nearby so when we got up in the mornings we had some unexpected company to enjoy and while we spoke quietly and moved slowly. ;)

Tent sites could be flatter and not located where they collect rain runoff.

Great campground, clean restrooms and good dish areas at 2 of the 4 facilities. Lots of bison and great views

We just love Cottonwood Campground and go there from Canada 2 or 3 times a year. There are large campsites and more wildlife than you will see anywhere else, from what we've seen. The Rangers and other staff are very nice. Beautiful place, especially when it's green from the rain!

Site 9 had a beautiful view of the river and landscape. We had plenty of room for our tent and a short walk to the bathrooms.

First site was blinded by bathroom exterior light, second site was excellent

Cottonwood Campground is great. You can see Bison and Wild Horse sometimes in the open fields around d the campground. We saw a Bison right by a trailer. I would not recommend site 003 to anyone with a trailer. There isnt enough space for a trailer and a tow vehicle and if someone is in 004 you will not be able to park your trailer. I would recommend this site for Class C or tent campers. We were able to move to another site which was beautiful and peaceful.

Awesome campground right in the middle of the southern territory of Theodore Roosevelt NP. The campground is very well laid out with a lot of privacy for each spot. Also a really cool experience to see bison walking through the campground.

The campsites are small and maintained well. Flush toilets and running water are a great amenity to the campground. My fiancee and I tried to go on a hike but we're blocked by a flowing river. The trails are not as well marked as I would like them to be. Great views wherever you go.

Bathroom exterior light ruined camping experience.

Our campsite was quite muddy - not much grass. Otherwise, nice campground

Really solid campground with little trails down to the river and plenty of bison nearby. Bathrooms were super clean and the site had plenty of room to set up in a couple different spots

Great site, quiet, accessible

Was a nice campground. Best thing was there were buffalo all over the campground when I woke up in the morning. That was pretty cool!

Cottonwood Campground doesn't offer any hookups for RV camping, but it provides an opportunity to experience the beauty and wildlife of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.We had a pack of bison feed their way right through our campsite with a repeat visit the next day.My only complaint is the lack of a dump station within the campground.
@WILLIAMM503355 · Camped on May 5, 2025 at Campsite #19
Had a beautiful riverfront campsite. Access to water and a dump station was a huge plus. Bison were meandering around the campground, a pus in my book. Very helpful camp host.

Cottonwood is great. Restrooms are clean and new. Camp sites are spaced well apart. Its an easy stroll to the Little Missouri River with bison wandering through. Loved it!
@WilliamH158481 · Camped on Sep 23, 2024 at Campsite #65
The tent sites were packed too close together, like sardines. Had a nice evening hike on the Lower Paddock Creek Trail (nobody there but prairie dogs).

1. as far as I could tell they do nothing for the rent they charge. it shouldn't be asking too much to ask that they clean the tables at least once a week. I stayed at two different sites and both tables were filthy. 2. I'm not sure why but ppl dump charcoals in the weeds around the campsite instead of leaving them in the grill. there should be a collection bin to give ppl the chance to put them elsewhere. 3. if there were any ranger programs when I was there they didn't advertise them so I don't know if there were or not 4. other than that it was ok

Great place to visit.
@JohnO9176954 · Camped on Sep 17, 2024 at Campsite #19
There may be a few nice sites here, but the majority are awful and packed one on top of the other. Very few sites had any kind of view of the Little Missouri River. We took one look at the pull-through site we had reserved, and hightailed it out. It was like an overgrown strip of sidewalk right next to the road. No trees, shrubs for any kind of noise reduction or privacy. See the park, then camp somewhere else.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
