Better WiFi coverage would be greatly appreciated. Also a bit better cell phone coverage would also help. When youre old (89) and alone being able to make a call is most comforting.

The site was very big. There was absolutely NO internet for AT&T nor Verizon. We had to drive about 10 miles away to get any service at all.

This is a high in demand campground. During my stay we noticed 6 or 7 sites unoccupied during our 4 night, 5 day stay. Checked the website and the sites are showing as being reserved. The rules state if a site is not occupied by noon the following day the the reservation is voided and becomes available to the public for reservation. This is the responsibility of the host and should they should be expected to enforce the rules.

The park was very well kept. We had the possibility of severe weather and the park attendant made sure we knew where to go for safety and that gave us peace of mind knowing we had a safe place to go if needed!

It had been 10+ years since we camped at Defeated Creek. The campground and site were very clean. Camp hosts were very friendly. All was a very pleasant stay. The only down side is that Verizon Cell service is non existent except if you walk to sit at bathhouses 1&3. Then your service will swap to Internet calling. I wish all USACE campgrounds would contract with service providers so our connections to those that need us can reach us.

Defeated Creek is a great campground. We enjoyed 6 nights there on site 120. It was Electric/Water only, but they have a dump site when you exit. The sites are well spaced out. If you are lake front with sewer, those are a bit closer together, but what a view. I really don't think there is a bad site in the place. It is a gated campground and you are given a code at check in. They have several bath/shower houses. We mostly used the one in the Honeysuckle loop (I believe it is noted as #3). Number 3 and the one closer to the entrance both seems to be kept very clean. The grounds were mowed and maintained. Our site surface was gravel and we had a fire pit and picnic table. It is a great area to walk or ride a bike. During our stay we saw many deer and one skunk. The cell service is pretty spotty (we use Verizon). Wi-fi is in the park, but apparently the best place is near Honeysuckle loops bath house. We found early in the mornings it worked best. I work part time remote and had already planned to visit the Smith Country Library in Carthage to have dependable service. Carthage is about 15 minutes away and has several stores and restaurants. We would definitely plan another visit to Defeated Creek.

COE and staff they use are always great. Parks are always clean and they keep the campgrounds under control. We love Defeated Creek...not much to do in the area, but enjoy the campground..good enough for us!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
