Campround and what they can control are all great!I was hoping the river would be better suited for fly fishing. With all the rain lately the water was higher than I'd like and the dam seemed to have 3 generators going about everyday we were there.

Very clean and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The grass has not been mowed in a very long time.
@MarcyC5398304 · Camped on May 22, 2025 at Campsite #30
Everything was great except the grasses were super tall and the boat ramp at the dam was cluttered with debris; we hand cleared half to launch, which was used by Everyone. Understandable with the storms and rain; however, it was Memorial Day, and stayed like that for the whole weekend.

Nice campground and staff.

This campground is below the dam on the Caney river. Not a good place for kids to play, swim or fish really. You can fish from the dam steps or the boat ramp but when they are generating the water is turbulent. It is beautiful and peaceful. The closest stores for forgotten supplies is about 15 minutes away. The campground does NOT have or store or even firewood. There is a closer station but it closes at 6pm so you have to plan for that. Canoe the Caney was a great adventure! You can experience the river and fish while kayaking/canoeing, about 15 min. to their pickup location/storefront.

The campground is very nicely laid out. We stayed in site 29 and it was levelno blocking up. It was very spacious. Seemed like most on the inner circle were the same. Other family stayed in site 6 on the Caney and very littke leveling required there. Grandson and friends spent lots of time at playground. Really good experience. The only reason I didnt give a 5 star rating was because the grass was VERY high. I think a fellow camper said the Grass had been cut once or twice since opening and all COE campgrounds are experiencing the same with cut back made.

Rainy weekend camping trip but still enjoyed the peaceful beautiful campground. Unfortunately if something doesnt happen all the riverfront sites are going to be gone before long thanks to erosion.

This campground is not up to par with some of the other Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds we have stayed at. For one, it is not as scenic, close to high voltage powerlines and you view the backside of a big concrete dam. We did manage to travel by electric bike to the marina up the road and have a wonderful dinner at El Lago Mexican food. Edgar Evins is nearby too. We won't be back. Not complaining about the park overall, but the gate keeper was rude and had no suggestions when we asked where could go for a bike ride, like he had no clue about the surroundings it didn't care to helps enjoy our weekend. The grass was not cut recently and looked like they are waiting for the season to begin before getting around to being set up for campers. Our camp site was literally 20 yards from the entrance and when we were riding our bikes back to our our camp spot, he stopped us and demanded that we ride all the way around the park like vehicle is required to. I just hoped off and walked my bike. It was petty and he knew it.

I have always enjoyed camping in Corp of Engineer campgrounds. They are usually well maintained and clean. However, the grass was extremely tall 15" at least. Shower nozzle (ladies) pressure only was a dribble straight down. They also claimed wifi available...you can even stream! Ha! Only wifi available is right next to entrance!!! Very disappointed!

Always a great place to camp. However, this time we were disappointed in the upkeep of the grounds. The grass was very tall and unkept when we arrived. We were there for 10 days and still the grass was never cut and trimmed.

The park was pretty. We took a walk around the camp area a few times. We did go to the lake on the other side of the dam and had fun paddleboarding.

We stayed in Site 3 which was beside a bathhouse and playground. It had a lot of open green space around it and well-spaced from neighbors. It was easy to back into as it nearly paralleled the road. The gravel was well packed but dusty so an outdoor rug is handy to keep dirt out of the camper. Campground was full, but quiet and hosts were friendly. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and warm enough on chilly days. There are two bathhouses, one at each end of the campground, each with two shower stalls and a few toilets. The shower heads are a mix of older models or free-hanging wands. I recommend they be replaced. What appears to be a dishwashing sink says "laundry only". There is a free washer and dryer beside the bathhouse at the front of the park. The dump station is clean, but beware, the sprayer is a bit forceful. The pedestals have 15a/30a/50a and the water pressure was just right. As the weather warmed up we did have a few ants inside the camper. The campground is located at the bottom of Center Hill Dam and beside a public boat ramp and picnic area. Each camp sight has an aluminum picnic table, fire ring, charcoal grill, wooden prep table and post for hanging lights/trash/etc. We had no trouble receiving calls on AT&T, however, data and texts rarely worked. There is wifi, which went from fair to good depending on when we used it. When the park was mostly empty we were able to connect and watch ROKU for a while, although it was a bit grainy. Maybe it was user error, but we couldn't find any over the air tv channels. The campground is located in a valley. We camped in April and the weather ranged from 40s-80s.

I have a lifetime pass which allows me to stay at half price. Upon arrival, I was asked to show my card. I had left it at home. The attendant charged my card the additional half in order to allow entry. The necessity to show the card is buried in the website. I have been disappointed by the reservation website repeatedly.

Staff is friendly and facilities are clean and well maintained. Only minus was humans not managing yappy dogs. River was difficult to fish because of low flows and cloudy water, but that is temporary. Another good COE experience!

It is a nice campground, very quiet. It was nice to see that the washer and dryer even if outside were kept clean. Plus free to use. We had a nice view of the water. This was the first time we can remember having a site that is set up to pull forward into, needless to say it would not work as well for a TT because the hookup would be on the wrong side. The camphosts were friendly and helpful. No over the air antenna channel reception

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
