Super quick walk to the lake, which was great! There was a hornets nest at our site, and we got stung/bit the first night. The host would periodically drive around and take care of the bathrooms, but they never came by our site or talked to us.

Giant Gap campground has been a favorite of ours for many years, it is a beautiful area & the Lake is gorgeous!Note: For some reason there are many trees that have been cut & dropped all around the campsites & just left to rot?????{Do not understand why the trees would not be harvested for the wood, instead of just left, On the other hand there is a lot of wood that could be cut up & used for firewood, if you have a battery chainsaw to cut it!!!)

Always clean and a lot of fun. Rangers and camp host do a great job at keeping it enjoyable for everyone. (No radios that can be heard beyond your own camp site, no loud drunks). The trails are beautiful and there's great swimming. I go there every year.

Really small camp site, no privacy, not even space to setup 2 tents. Didnt end up staying the night. Camp host was rude too probably more fed up with the day use traffic

Camp and host were excellent. Family had a great time. Not the camps fault but, we had some campers that were less than tidy (gross) with how they left the outhouses. Camp staff was prompt about taking care of the issue. We'll be back next year if all goes well. Hey, I had jury duty the day after my stay with you'all, is there anything you can do about that? Just kidding we'll be back.

I have been coming here for years with my family and love this place. This year was the first year we brought a boat and utilized the boat ramp. Even though there are clearly signs instructing no swimming 100 feet of ramp, it was CROWDED with children, on the ramp, on the dock, in the water on the ramp, and around the ramp. None of them knew (or, their parents didnt know or care), to even move when someone was attempting to launch or recover a boat. I almost struck a child trying to back down as they ran right behind my trailer as I backed. Almost backed into child swimming in the boat ramp too. Very frustrating that no one is able to enforce this rule and keep people safe. Would rate this 5 stars if not for this experience.

Always a wonderful time at Giant Gap campgrounds. Camp host Tricia and Steve are great people! Weather was perfect while we were there. See you next year!

very nice place but this time there were many people who were making noise very late at night.

We had a great time but the bathrooms were filthy and the water was shut off without notice.
@EmilyGB8CABFDB · Camped on Jul 22, 2025 at Campsite #10
When we showed up, there was no running water. The camp host said that the water would be turned back on the next day, however the water as never turned back on. It was not turned back on until the day after that which was the day we were leaving. It made it very difficult to wash our hands or wash dishes.

Great camp ground near the reservoir. Had bear activity around our campsite last year, but not this year. FYI they do not sell firewood and the closest place to buy is 20min away.
@AlisaW9234435 · Camped on Jul 17, 2025 at Campsite #18
This is a great site for a group. Easy pull through. Only issue is there was just one bear box for a group of up to 12. Definitely needed the second box. No firewood this year. Lake was great.

4th of July Weekend. Camp Hosts were there but super lazy. Bathrooms were frequently out of toilet paper. ZERO firewood was available from Thur-Sun. If you're reading this, bring your own wood because you can't rely on these camp hosts to chain saw any for you like they normally do. Campsites weren't picked up for the incoming campers - garbage left out and fire pits loaded with ash. I get that this was the 4th of July, but the significant noise was well past 11pm (including fireworks!) and not addressed by the camp hosts at all. We've camped here for well over a decade and frequently during the 4th of July weekends over the years and this was the worst. Super disappointing.

Everything from the road to the reservoir to the campsite was absolutely beautiful. The water wasn't too cold or hot and the trail that loops the lake is really varied and fun! Campsites are clean. Words to the wise, the road is pretty scary if you don't have experience with a one lane, narrow mountain road. And the campsites are pretty close together with one parking spot and no lot so larger groups may have trouble. For my solo trip, it was fantastic!

Site #10 is a wonderful spot for privacy and relaxation.The only slightly uncomfortable aspect, in our opinion, was the access to the site. Its located on a sort of mini-island, so you need to park your car in the parking lot and carry all your belongings about 150 meters down a narrow path. This was a bit inconvenient, especially with large items like a full-size cooler or a portable grill.Other than that, we truly enjoyed the site. Theres a private trail leading down to the lake, and you can choose from several different access points. Some of them have fallen trees that make getting in a bit tricky, but others offer an easy and completely private way to enter the water and swim.This is not a walk-through site people dont pass by, so it feels very secluded. The view of the lake is absolutely stunning. We loved watching the sunset and welcoming the sunrise from this spot.One more thing to note: even though the site is rated for two cars and six people, we barely managed to fit our large 12-person tent. Space was very tight, and the entrance of our tent ended up facing a bush that we had to walk around to get in and out.There were also a lot of bees, black wasps, and bumblebees around, so be sure to bring repellent and take precautions if you want to stay protected. Another big advantage of this slightly remote island-like setup was that we were able to let our dog off-leash. Throughout our stay, he was free to roam around the campsite without being tethered, and he never wandered far. It made the experience even more enjoyable for both us and our pup. We would gladly come back here again next year.

We love Giant Gap. We have been coming here for almost 40 years! Most of the campsites are large enough for a trailer, and all have at least one spot for a tent. There is a trail all the way around the lake, half of which is paved. The lake is wonderful for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding. Because of heavy storms the last few years, and (maybe) pine bark beetles, there a lot of downed trees; Huge logs and piles of them in some places. But there is still plenty of tree cover at the sites. Of course, getting a site close to the water is optimum!

The campground was quiet, and pristine!

We love this campground. The reservoir was quite full this time of year. Lots of insects, bring bug spray. The campground host said the hosts will not be selling firewood. (Budget cuts?) We drove back into Forest Hill and none of the stores had firewood! Be prepared for that. All in all a great site!

Very beautiful camping site. Will be returning :)

We love this campground. Site 11 had a beautiful view of the reservoir. This spot was difficult to maneuver with the camper. Probably should just be a tent site since when you back the trailer in you are facing away from the site My only complaint was that the camp post ran their generator a lot. We started each morning listening to it for about three hours and ended the evening listening to it for at least three more hours. Perhaps they couldve run it consistently across the middle of the day? Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
