Always a wonderful time at Giant Gap campgrounds. Camp host Tricia and Steve are great people! Weather was perfect while we were there. See you next year!

We had a great time but the bathrooms were filthy and the water was shut off without notice.

Love the lake! It kept us cool while it was over 100 dgs on 4th of July weekend. Perfect for paddleboarding. It is a max 3mph lake and unfortunately there were a few people that disregarded that, but that was not the fault of our campground. We have been coming here for 35 years. Never disappoints. They are slowly improving the pit toilets. We had a bear in camp; bear boxes are provided and obviously recommended. Paved trail around half the lake is good for biking.

Evidently there is no 10 O'clock curfew as is the case in the California State Campgrounds. The campers next to us had their music playing, drinking and were loud until 1 o'clock am when we had an altercation to get them to stop. Won't be coming back as families with small children are not considered by the party all night crowds here.

Clean and well maintained. Stayed in 2021 and 2023. The big difference was the amount of water in the lake. In 2023 the lake was full. it is very easy to get to the lake on foot but not great for walking SUPs to the lake. We drove to the boat ramp which is several miles away. The host kept a very tidy campground and there were no issues with campers as far as I could tell. The lake is at 3600 feet so the water was already in the mid 70s in June.

This is a beautiful campground. I don’t recommend site 17. There is another site directly above it and the is zero privacy. Camp hosts were nice but the quiet hours were not respected. Gorgeous lake and hiking trails were amazing. Google maps took us an awful way. Take forest hill do not go up toward colfax,( canyon way toward placer hills rd.) nothing but an old dangerous logging road.

Great campground. Quiet, not alot of boat activity, so our kids had a good time swimming in the lake. Nice trails, easy for young kids. Bathrooms were clean for being vault toilets. Plenty of firewood around to collect to burn (fires were allowed at the time we were there).

This is a beautiful lake and great for families. Swimming was perfect and lots of safe paddling, water toy possibilities. The bathrooms are pretty smelly though, especially when people pee on the floor. Showers would be nice someday! But it's a great place to regain some peace.

Giant Gap at Sugar Pine Reservoir is beautiful, quiet, and fairly easy to park a small boat in the site. The only thing that was hard was learning how to navigate the website, to make sure your reservation is confirmed, also, to get a reservation 5 days out or earlier. We had to switch campsites after the 1st night.... even though I emailed whoever I could from the park dept or natl park system. So- the lesson learned is that Giant Gap was beautiful, clean and fairly quiet.....next time I will plan more in advance so I can get the same site for more than 1 day. My sweetie and I are in our 60s so making camp, and breaking it down TWICE, was super hard
