Couldn't get a tent site when we got there and had to reserve a space by phone. Why?

We have tried for a few years to get A29. We enjoyed it so much. The beautiful views of the lake are so good. As always it was clean and the park itself has very good staff. Bandits is our favorite campground in NC.

Even though the weather wasn't great, we had a great time. Definitely recommend going by Dixie Donuts for a special treat. We always enjoy our stays at Bandits Roost. Clean campground and nice spots to camp at.

Easy to back into, great view, and very close to level.

As always, the group site was perfect, exactly what we needed. Only complaint I have, I would like for the camp host or guard at the gate tell campers to stay out of the group site when gates are closed. We had our gate closed and people kept opening the gate driving thru or riding bikes thru

Very spacious quiet private campsite. Be prepared to do a lot of steps.

Decent Campground with several waterside sites. Could greatly improve by adding sewer hookups and remodelling the bathroom and showers.

Wonderful camping trip for the first time at Bandit Roost. Very large campsite, close with bathhouse and the beach, lots mature tree and shade. Will be back.. oh beautiful lake view and quiet to relaxing..

Friendly Quiet campground overall. Swim at the lake and watch the sunset and enjoy the forest setting around you. The trail is a mess and no real place to hike if that is your thing. Bring your boat and enjoy the lake.

We share campers and rent it out but the Rudd gate lady and the young ranger stated the same camper couldn't be on the lot over 14 day. We have did this for the last 4 years and different camping sites in different states, not only at these places.

I was in spot 32. It was right next to the water but a very muddy path down to the water. We didn't even try. The spot itself was nice but not level enough to get the auto level to quite work. The loop is pretty tight, really too small for bigger class A rigs. Mine is a 26 foot and I had no problem. We enjoyed the stay.

Stayed 5 nights in site 75 in the B loop. Volunteer at the gate was very friendly when we checked in. Site was nice and in good shape. Relaxing location with most things you need nearby in Wilkesboro.

We love this campground. However, we do not like recent changes. The entry gate has been broken for 2 years, with use of movable barriers, making it much less secure. There are no full-time employees to contact with questions or concerns. Park rangers drive through only occasionally. Maintenance of the grounds is sporadic - we had weeds growing through the gravel on our site. All the small trees have been removed on the campsites near the water on the outer loop A and it looks so bare. Yet there are many scrubby small trees growing around other sites that add nothing of value. No problems with litter and we do not use bath houses. We still camp here but not as often as in years past. Most reservations must be scheduled 6 months out.

Restrooms are older and in need of updating. Campground was clean. Host is super nice.

We were in the prettiest part of loop A. What a great location. How you managed to arrange that severe thunderstorm with 45 minutes of hail, just for our entertainment (ha ha), I do not understand. OK. the storm wasn't your doing. It really was an enjoyable campground. We will return.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
