Upon arriving early, were told by host/guard house keeper to go down the road and wait for over an hour because we were early. He further said that maintenance had to "go check the site water and electrical as always". We waited, and the next day several sites around us began to fill up at between noon and 3PM with no maintenace or even a person looking at the sites. Does this man and woman in the gate house have something against us? This is our third visit, and every time these folks have either made us wait of go online to change something in our reservation. Do they only like locals, as we've seen them around camper's campfires in the evening. They are not inviting pesonalities, and should not be allowed back next season. They do not own the park and make their own rules for out of town visitors.

It is an outstanding campground. Nice lots and super nice Camp Hosts. We have been to about 5 times this season. We thoroughly enjoy this campground. It is an amazing experience.

We stayed at Bandits Roost on 09/11 & 12 and the hosts at check in were very friendly & helpful, they even had a highlighted map to get into the campground & to our site (#33). There were 4 or 5 site in our cul de sac off the main road through the campground, backing into our site was easy enough there was a 4-5 inch slope from front to back & had blocks under the rear duals to get us close to level. Our site backed right up to the lake, however, the tall weeds & brush kept us from going down to the shoreline from our site. Restrooms & shower area was just up the hill from our site and were clean. We had fairly good reception (3 bars) on cell phones (Verizon) but didnt note the speed. Very quiet during overnights.

On line campsite map is a little misleading. Some sites are closer together than they appear.

Easy to book on Recreation.gov. Greeted by ranger at entrance booth and had all questions answered. Site was on the water; it was level and easy to back into. Didnt use restrooms/showers. Very pleasant overnight stay while we were on a three week trip.

We lucked into a cancellation and got a waterfront spot (#33) for a couple nights in mid-October. This and other surrounding waterfront spots would have been intolerable in summer for lack of shade, but was lovely in cooler weather when the lake was peaceful. In general, there are many spots in this campground that are very close together and completely lacking any privacy. There are also many spots with steps down to the picnic table; it appeared that many campers with this type of site just hung around their camping units and didn't use the table, probably due to the inconvenience of this set-up. Unfortunately, so many campsites on line don't include photos so you can't tell this in advance, without calling on every possible site. A lot of spots can't even be found on the online campground map, leading me to believe they've been squeezed in to previously less crowded areas. Tent sites seemed more appealing and private with more waterfront selection. The bathhouse was fine and we love staying in the Corps of Engineers campgrounds for their favorable senior rates and generally good upkeep.

Bandits Roost is a very nice campground with beautiful view and great access of the lake! The staff are hospitable and helpful and keep the sites clean ! The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing!
