Clean and well spaced out sites. Clean restrooms and showers. Lots of highway noise and train noise, but thats to be expected given the location. Close to Grand Rapids for everything you might need.

overall nice sites and clean facilities. Only negative was the highway and train noise. We were in a site close to both (#18).

Very well maintained campground. It's fun watching the water go through the dam. Some highway noise, but not to the point of being bothersome.

Beautiful campground! Highway and trains are quiet at night so it is very peaceful. Walking trail across the dam is lovely. Showers excellent, friendly people, easy to maneuver in and out. Would definitely stay here again.

I would have rated it 5 stars except for one glaring issue that I feel compelled to comment on. First of all, the positive.....the campsite we stayed in (#7) was excellent! Nice and level, nice shade, plenty of room for our 30' travel trailer and our truck. Fire ring was the appropriate distance from the camper so didn't have to worry about fly ash hitting our awning. Absolutely 5 stars on the campsite. We like the location of this campground to area mountain biking parks. We will very likely be back again next year.Now for the negative......One big negative. There were guys mowing on a Friday afternoon when the campground was completely full. I am fully aware of everything you are going to use as an excuse. Limited staff, limited availability as far as days they work, etc. Every, and I mean EVERY other campground I've been in, they mow on days where it is more likely that the campground will be less populated. There were people sitting at their picnic tables eating lunch while your guys were going near them kicking up dust, leaves, rocks, whatever. An even bigger concern......Yes they had deflection shield on the discharge chutes, but that won't stop every rock or stick from getting shot out of the chute. They were turning around in the road where there was gravel, pointing their chutes at campers and vehicles. Unbelievable!! I have had two windows blown out by irresponsible lawn mower operators due to rocks being thrown. Why not put plugs in the chutes like every other campground I've been in does. MULCH the grass clippings, and it is much safer! Please consider choosing different days and times. Yes, there will be campers in the campground, but on a Friday afternoon, this campground was absolutely full. On Monday when we left at noon, almost empty. PLEASE consider, and at the very least PLUG the chutes.

Easy to find campground as it's right of major road. Easy check in with Ranger. Tent site was a good size for a medium size tent..had table. It was just a overnight stay. Dam near and walking trails ..good fishing on Dam/River.Very clean restrooms with TP and hand dryers.(Shower) Beautiful area and quite ...until early morning train and loud trucks. Plenty of lights at night. Felt secure and safe. I would camp here overnight again. Very clean which was a bonus.

I know its hard to get help but a campground host program might work. Where I have been with hosts they get free camping for a designated number of days/weeks and they doing site cleaning and restroom cleaning as well as check ins . Im retired now so my wife and I would possibly consider hosting occasionally.

The campsite had not been raked and I backed over a tent peg. Fortunately I didnt puncture my camper tire. I didnt see any staff the days I was there. Other civil engineer sites have tools available to help clean up , rakes , shovels and such.

Last review I wrote was a mistake. I was thinking of another campground. Pokegama Dam campground was very small but packed a big punch! Easy access from highway 2 and very nice sites along the Mississippi River. There was a very nice trail on the other side of the dam that was also nice and easy for an evening walk. Bathrooms were clean and park overall well kept!

Clean, well kept, well behaved

Decently clean and accessible. The regularly running railroad is so close if you end up in a site right next to it you will literally feel the ground shake, much less sleep through the midnight train and its whistle. Do not attempt to camp without earplugs.

Very clean, well kept grounds. I camped in the #12 spot for one night and moved to the primitive site #20. The only flat spot on #12 was the parking area, NOT good for a tent and sleeping on the ground. I put the tent near the river only to have the night security light shine right into the tent. In spot #20, the only flat spot was part on the campsite, part on the other site (#21), and part off the boundary. The sites were clean except for the dog crap I had to clean up from other people's dogs (NOT the fault of the facility). The facility had very nice, clean bathrooms and showers. Main complaint was the noise from the trains and the road, the noise was VERY LOUD! I stayed at the facility d/t work. I worked nights and did not get much rest or sleep because of the noise. It would be nice if a wall/noise barrier was constructed. Otherwise, for a day trip, very nice grounds, beautiful area.

Very nice campground with great sites along the river. Hiking trails all around. Railroad tracks run right next to the campground, and a busy highway right past the tracks. Still an enjoyable stay, but a little noisier than we expected. It was nice to be close to a decent size community (Grand Rapids, MN) with lots to do there too.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
