Very nice campground. Kept very clean, partially due to active bears in the area.

This campground is popular because it is excellent! It's a great base to visit both the Platte River and Glen Arbor areas. While DH Day is closer to Glen Arbor and more of the Sleeping Bear hiking trails, Platte River Campground is equally beautiful. The distinct advantage of Platte River Campground is the modern restrooms which include showers and a dish washing station. The showers are spacious, private, and the water can get hot. This makes Platte River Campground better for longer trips or bigger groups.We stayed at Site 220, which I highly recommend for tents. There is plenty of room for a large tent as well as leaving room to camp. The fire pit is not very close to the tent, so there is little worry about burning a hole in your tent. Be aware that the picnic table is chained down and cannot be moved closer to the fire pit, so bring camp chairs if you plan to sit around the fire.Because Platte River Campground has modern restrooms, there are not many restroom buildings: just 1 per loop. Therefore, proximity to the restroom is important. Site 220 is not right next to the restroom, but it's only about a 30-second walk. This is a big benefit.For activities, we paddled the Lower Platte through Riverside Canoes. We rented a 6-man raft, which I highly recommend. It's fun to have the whole group in the same vessel. We also hiked Empire Bluff, Platte Plains, and Kettles trails. For meals, we stopped at Ursa Major and Cherry Hut in Beulah and of course Cherry Public House in Glen Arbor.I would say that Platte River Campground is intermittently buggy. I definitely recommend preparing for the possibility of bad bugs. Everyone in our group had personal insect nets, but I also recommend an insect net canopy. Our campsite neighbors had one and remarked to us that it worked very well. The mosquitoes on Platte Plains were insane. Fortunately, we were prepared. But I do not recommend venturing out there unless you ARE prepared.Overall, this is a great campground!

Platte River is our favorite Michigan campground. Excellent paved level sites and well maintained facilities.

Beautiful area and park was real nice. Camp spots were spaced out nicely with lots of trees and shade. Very well kept.Only complaint is there were garbage bins blocking one of the access points to fill tank leaving only one fresh water hose to fill tank which caused a lengthy wait due to only one camper at a time being able to fill or dump, that was a real bummer!Will be back in October, hopefully get there early so no wait.

Lovely park, it is a bit of a drive to see the dunes

Platte River is our go to place every year. The sites are so large and give us the privacy we're hoping for while camping. There is access to so much hiking/biking/kayaking within the area that we love spending time here.

Very clean and private campsites. Staff was professional. The one negative, someone stole our camp chairs while we were gone for the day. They were cheap so it was no major loss.

The campground was very well maintained. The bathrooms were very clean and it was nice to have a dedicated dish washing area. Beautiful, quiet campground. It was our first visit ,and we have already made a reservation to go back in the fall.

Our experience at Platte River Campground was amazing! The campsite we were on (I believe it was D-2) was clean, quiet, beautiful, and conveniently located. It was near the restroom/shower/dishwashing area, but not excessively noisy. The bear boxes are large and right near the site (they were also clean). This site was easy to book, and the staff were very polite and informative. We really enjoyed our time here! Would highly recommend this site and campground to anyone looking to explore the area!

Love this campground. Whoever designed it did a great job utilizing terrain and foliage to give campsites both privacy and scenery.

We are a couple of local girls who have a couple of Riggs, and love to go camping together. Platt River is one of our favorites for so many reasons. The sites are spacious with plenty of greenery and privacy between sites. The walking path down to the lake is so great. And a quick bike ride down the road to the lake, access to the river, its just great. The improvements are so appreciated. Level paved sites is a real bonus. There are also a number of good restaurants and local sites within a short driving distance. we will be back next year without a doubt.

Great campground! I stayed in Loop 4 (site 412) and it was really nice. Pads are paved and flat. I stayed in May and Loop 4 was not very full. The bathrooms are great and clean, with showers and a washing room for dishes. Would stay here again!

The edge of the asphalt pad on site 316 was not level with on the side . Easily to injury one self when getting out of the trailer door. The side by the electrical box was level but a drop off on the opposite side was not.

We love camping at Platt River. The campground is well maintained and is in a great location to experience the beauty of the Sleeping Bear area. The sites are very large and we love the separate campfire area each site has.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
