We had a great time at this campground! Bathrooms were spread out throughout and easy to get to. My kids loved having a lake so close by so we could adventure without having to drive somewhere. We intended to see more of Lassen natl park but on one of our days, drove two hours down to the Southside entrance only to find some of what we were interested in, was not accessible due to snow (in June!). This Florida girl did not anticipate that being possible in June. Otherwise a beautiful trip!!

Nice spot.Dry and level ground for pitching a tent. Plenty of branches around for a campfire. Overall, a pleasant place to stay

The kayak rental on Manzanita Lake was great as usual. Its only on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The store is convenient and has some necessities and souvenirs. Its a beautiful spot that you have to visit at least once.

The campground was beautiful, spacious and clean. The bathrooms were also clean and well furnished. Lake Manzanita itself is stunningly beautiful, we enjoyed kayaking the lake and hiking around it too. We also enjoyed a number of other hikes from the location, including to Crags Lake. We also spent a fun day driving over to Butte Lake area where we kayaked the lake and hiked to the top of Cinder Cone. Really awesome views!

Site 49 - not a good site for car camping, better for a tent. Short back in drive is next to the bathrooms. Patience required for hot water at the showers.

I was pleased with the condition of the campground. I've stayed here many times over the past two decades.

Manzantia Lake California , the campsite was very nice specially the space to for the trailer and truck. the hoist was very helpful with questions I had. the parking at the lake was perfect however the bathrooms were not clean at all. the Rangers were excellent .

Nice campsite with several hikes and the Visitor Center right there. Seems too bad that you automatically mark all sites as "reserved" even though you attach no names to each site and many of the sites were actually vacant this early in the season. Am sure there were those who would have liked to have stayed on a walk-up basis but were discouraged.

The campsites were very large and spaced out compared to other national parks we have stayed in before. It was a lovely spot. I would go back again.

We had a wonderful camping experience. The highlight was camping under the trees and the beautiful hiking trail around the lake. A few things:1. Previous campers left so much trash in the bear proof food container box. We had to dispose them which was not fun at all. 2. We arrived at night so we could not see where the restrooms were and which ones were open until the morning.

There was a group in the campground playing techno music all night. Other than that it was great!

It has every basic thing one would need for a sufficient camping experience, but the lack of staff, bigger bathroom, and amnesties made this a 3 star

We came here in mid-October, and I knew that the dump station would be closed. What I didn't know was that everything was closed. The store, the bathrooms, the showers, the gas station, everything. All the water was shut off, even the fire hydrants. There is no cell service and the pay phones are shut off. At the North Visitors Center in the Museum park staff are telling people they can get water at the water bottle filling station over at the store. But there was NO water. Why didn't NPS staff know this? There was no camp host and you could not pay using the iron ranger, you have to pay online. But there is no cell service. You have to leave and drive several miles to get service. No way to call 911. All the sites have had tags placed on them falsely labeling them as reserved, and there is a sign at the entrance that says that the CG is full, but online 90% of the sites show available. We overheard some people ask the staff at the VC about getting a spot but they were told by park staff that the CG was full and that they'd have to go online to see if there was an opening. At the visitors center they had an announcement that the cafe at the south entrance would be open weekends until 2pm. We drove there on Sunday and at 1pm they were closed and looked like they'd been closed for days. The tree canopy was so thick in the CG that we got only 1% charge on our batteries from solar and had spotty at best satellite reception. In the CG there are multiple roads but no signs saying where they go. Drive around the park and there are NO signs for most of the park. Nothing to tell you that you are coming up on an intersection. Manzanita was the only CG that had a sign, none of the others even had signs. The one time I saw a Law Enforcement vehicle it was being driven by 2 unarmed park naturalists out taking pictures of wildlife. I did see a Law Enforcement vehicle patrol the campground one time in 3 days but have no confidence that it was an actual Law Enforcement Ranger.

I love Lassen Park and always enjoy my visits. This last trip felt a little more like remote/dispersed camping because it was post season and not all of the typical amenities were available - but it was still gorgeous and being able to see the Venus Rising against the Northern Lights was spectacular.

It was a good trip overall best view for short distance hike, beside after season it was Oct 8 2024 no water supply! We was sharing water and burning wood to the camp neighbours! If the camp store open little longer to end of October that will be a perfect trip!

I stayed there in a tent campsite over a 3-day holiday weekend. By Sat morning there was zero toilet paper in the latrine.No wash area for dishes. No sign saying where to go so simply cleaned at the campsite.

Site is close to bathroom but not so close that it felt crowded. Only loop A and B open for dry camping but definitely loved this location!

The campground was nice. The bathrooms did not have working lights so it was super dark after the sun went down. We had a reservation this time, but sometimes we do not. All of the sites were marked reserved with no way to know, but to go online to see what was available. We had no service so I'm not sure how you would know what was available if you didn't have a reservation. The camp store was nice but overpriced compared to other stores. We loved the hike around the lake.

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
