I love this campground. Its smaller and more peaceful than Summit Lake South and definitely more than Lake Manzanita. Sites are relatively small and theres not a lot of privacy, but lake access is easy. I had a good view of the lake from my site, and it was a very short walk to the lake. Good shade. Mt Lassen is visible from the campground. Bathrooms were clean and convenient to my site. Im definitely coming back to this campground and staying longer.

Too bad the fire was all around the campground but it was a nice place to stay. Facilities in good condition and sites are far enough apart from each other.

Campsites near the lake are a bit noisy on the weekends due to the number of people using the day use parking nearby, but much more peaceful away from the lake shore and on weekdays.

Perfectly located in the middle of the park with an easy-access lake. The bathrooms were clean but no lighting so bring your headlamps.

The website fails to communicate clearly important details about the status of the driveway. There was a significant slant/grade to the driveway. We were not able to level the RV. We were only able to get it to 3% on the level reader (front to back). To adjust we had to completely change how we slept in the RV. I wish the campgrounds would do a more thorough job of providing these details. Overall even though the campground was cramped with sites being too close to each other it was relatively quiet. We did end up leaving a day/night early & stayed at the south entrance. They were charging $10 to stay overnight in the visitor center parking lot since the campground down there was under construction. Much more level. Much less crowded. Beautiful night sky viewing!

There is not a level site to be found in Summit Lake North or South. If you've ever slept in a tent on a slant, you know what I'm talking about. No fun. I had site B19 in Summit Lake North. I do not recommend this site at all. No level ground. There is literally a v-shaped driveway. You have side of the v, the site next door has the other side. The night I stayed, there was a small SUV parked in the site, immediately next to the bear box for my site. It took me a while to figure out that the bear box was for my site, not there's, that's how close they were. The only saving grace was that there were flush toilets. I do not believe Summit Lake South has flush toilets, but don't quote me on that.

Lovely campsite, short walk from the lake. This side of the lake has a lot of great spots to get in the water. Campground was clean, everything seemed to be in working order, and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing and pretty quiet. I really enjoyed my stay, and I would come back!

It was super easy to get into our campsite. It was already reserved (by the host). The campground was tidy. The stars were amazing at night. The campground was VERY quiet which was impressive because the sites are a little close. The only tricky part was the bathrooms had no lights. A great campground experience.

This is a great campground. Theres lake is swimmable and right there! Lots of hiking options from the campground and close by. During the week its fairly quiet. It can be busy in the day use area on weekends. People clear out by dinner time and its quiet again.

This site is not ideal for a trailer, as it is a narrow turnout parallel to the road, and the only way we could make it work was to enter the road in the wrong direction to ensure our door opened into the site. Would make a great tent camping spot.

It was excellent until the multi site crowd from the Bay Area arrived with bikes and @20 screaming kids. I had to ask the host to let them know that they were not to cutdown/ chop and saw trees for firewood! Seriously!!
@Christine85968 · Camped on Jul 9, 2025 at Campsite #B13
Clean, pleasant site. The bathrooms were conveniently located and also clean (at least on the womens side). My only complaint is that the sites are very close to each other.
@KerstinEDB4858 · Camped on Jul 9, 2025 at Campsite #B16
We were quite chocked that there was no shade at all at the site and the area was very impacted by fire. The lake is very small and more like a pond.
@EdwardM9946642 · Camped on Jul 7, 2025 at Campsite #A12
Great location in the park, in the middle so can get to most places with short drive. Close to lake with close daily use parking and picnic area
@JasonH5601399 · Camped on Jul 7, 2025 at Campsite #A2
Campsites are on top of each other and there are a lot of travel trailers and RVs which is a drag. The lake is wonderful and so are the bathrooms. There has to be some better control over barking dogs.
@ThomasD6597226 · Camped on Jul 7, 2025 at Campsite #A10
There was not much ranger and visitor center support. the park is beautiful! We had a great time.

Good campsite but lot of bugs

What a beautiful spot and the facilities were excellent. Location in the park was ideal for exploring and getting to the different trailheads.

Such a beautiful campsite. Close to the lake and very serene. A bit crowded but still a great way to enjoy the park.The bathrooms were so clean! We stayed a few nights and they were always spotless and full of toilet paper. It was nice to have so many stalls and have access to flush toilets and running water! Thank you Ranger Randi for keeping them so clean! We were so grateful for her attentiveness and wonderful personality! Such a joy to have her stop by the campground!

Location, Location, Location. The location rocks. Otherwise, nothing special, campsites are too close to each other with no privacy.
@KirkM5140167 · Camped on Jun 27, 2025 at Campsite #B1
Lake was beautiful. Site B01 had great access to the lake, but had very little space, as it was jammed between two other sites. Pull through was plenty big for our 30 RV, More than enough room.

Clean campsites, great mid-point for exploring the park, easy access to the Summit Lake to Cluster Lakes trail (really pretty hike, even with all the burn from the Dixie Fire), peaceful area, fire buckets were provided near the water spigots to easily put out your campfire at the end of the night.

Small, quiet, and well maintained!

Lovely campground and lake. Peaceful and close to many park attractions. (Mt. Lassen, Bumpass Hell, Brokeoff Mt, Hiking trails, etc.)

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
