Excellent campsite that was more laid back and peaceful than the larger campgrounds nearby. Walk to Summit Lake was very short. Campsite #24 where we stayed has partial shade and very close to a water faucet. Only recommended improvement for the campground would be to install solar powered lighting for the restrooms as they are very dark at night.

We stayed in site A07. When it rains, water funnels from both the impervious pavement to the east and the bank on the south of the site through the site and to the culvert. The only place to pitch a tent to avoid inundation is on the slope above the riverbed . The site is generally not suitable for a tent.

The North Summit Lake campground is a terrific place to camp. The views, including Mt. Lassen majestically sitting above the lake, the stars and the lake itself. There is water and there are restrooms, which are very clean and easily accessible. It is easy to launch your water toys from the banks of the lake. We enjoyed it so much we booked again right after we returned home.

Very nice and quiet campsite

Summit Lake North is a lovely campground. Our site was in B loop and was at the edge of the forest burn. The bathrooms were very clean, the lake was great to swim in and we appreciated the STUNNING night sky. This campground is also conveniently located at the middle of the park.On a Tuesday and Wednesday there appeared to be many available campsites.

Really good campground. Fairly small loops which was nice. Close to lake. Bathrooms were very clean but no light so bring a headlamp.

Great location. Sites were spacious. Beach access was great! Would definitely stay again. Bear walked through campsite. Please practice proper storage guidelines.

We were in site A13. The site is very close to its neighbor because there is no level site for our tent accept right next to their fire ring. You can hear them whispering. Also there is not much shade at that site so bring a shade structure. There are some sites that looked better but overall all the sites are pretty close together. The lake is very nice and the north side has great access to the lake and nice seating areas. Good access to water spigots and trash bins. The bathrooms were very clean but they don't have lighting.

Campground and facilities great. Campsite are close together and many campfires made it very smokey in the evening and night. Haven't been in a campground that was this smokey. We had to air out the trailer, smelled like campfire when we got home.

This campground is right in the middle of the park. It's approximately 15 miles in each direction to the most popular sites. The lake is excellent for children to swim in. It is also easy to get your kayaks into the water.
@NancyH8034224 · Camped on Aug 4, 2025 at Campsite #B20
Lovely place to camp, with easy access to many of the parks trails. Disappointed that there was no evening campfire program.
@FiodorPB4AD8D0 · Camped on Aug 1, 2025 at Campsite #B22
Perfect place in the middle of most hiking trailheads. Toilets with running water. We were happy!

Sites are extremely close together; like its not clear which table and fire ring is yours and your neighbors tent is in your space. But its ok for a late arrival, early departure stay.

I love this campground. Its smaller and more peaceful than Summit Lake South and definitely more than Lake Manzanita. Sites are relatively small and theres not a lot of privacy, but lake access is easy. I had a good view of the lake from my site, and it was a very short walk to the lake. Good shade. Mt Lassen is visible from the campground. Bathrooms were clean and convenient to my site. Im definitely coming back to this campground and staying longer.

Too bad the fire was all around the campground but it was a nice place to stay. Facilities in good condition and sites are far enough apart from each other.
@BrentM7416670 · Camped on Jul 20, 2025 at Campsite #B1
Campsites near the lake are a bit noisy on the weekends due to the number of people using the day use parking nearby, but much more peaceful away from the lake shore and on weekdays.
@SarahD2854125 · Camped on Jul 18, 2025 at Campsite #A12
Perfectly located in the middle of the park with an easy-access lake. The bathrooms were clean but no lighting so bring your headlamps.

The website fails to communicate clearly important details about the status of the driveway. There was a significant slant/grade to the driveway. We were not able to level the RV. We were only able to get it to 3% on the level reader (front to back). To adjust we had to completely change how we slept in the RV. I wish the campgrounds would do a more thorough job of providing these details. Overall even though the campground was cramped with sites being too close to each other it was relatively quiet. We did end up leaving a day/night early & stayed at the south entrance. They were charging $10 to stay overnight in the visitor center parking lot since the campground down there was under construction. Much more level. Much less crowded. Beautiful night sky viewing!

There is not a level site to be found in Summit Lake North or South. If you've ever slept in a tent on a slant, you know what I'm talking about. No fun. I had site B19 in Summit Lake North. I do not recommend this site at all. No level ground. There is literally a v-shaped driveway. You have side of the v, the site next door has the other side. The night I stayed, there was a small SUV parked in the site, immediately next to the bear box for my site. It took me a while to figure out that the bear box was for my site, not there's, that's how close they were. The only saving grace was that there were flush toilets. I do not believe Summit Lake South has flush toilets, but don't quote me on that.

Lovely campsite, short walk from the lake. This side of the lake has a lot of great spots to get in the water. Campground was clean, everything seemed to be in working order, and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing and pretty quiet. I really enjoyed my stay, and I would come back!

It was super easy to get into our campsite. It was already reserved (by the host). The campground was tidy. The stars were amazing at night. The campground was VERY quiet which was impressive because the sites are a little close. The only tricky part was the bathrooms had no lights. A great campground experience.
@LoriN892C0BEC0 · Camped on Jul 12, 2025 at Campsite #B1
This is a great campground. Theres lake is swimmable and right there! Lots of hiking options from the campground and close by. During the week its fairly quiet. It can be busy in the day use area on weekends. People clear out by dinner time and its quiet again.
@Katherine16020 · Camped on Jul 12, 2025 at Campsite #A14
This site is not ideal for a trailer, as it is a narrow turnout parallel to the road, and the only way we could make it work was to enter the road in the wrong direction to ensure our door opened into the site. Would make a great tent camping spot.
@LindaA9769350 · Camped on Jul 10, 2025 at Campsite #A15
It was excellent until the multi site crowd from the Bay Area arrived with bikes and @20 screaming kids. I had to ask the host to let them know that they were not to cutdown/ chop and saw trees for firewood! Seriously!!
@Christine85968 · Camped on Jul 9, 2025 at Campsite #B13
Clean, pleasant site. The bathrooms were conveniently located and also clean (at least on the womens side). My only complaint is that the sites are very close to each other.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
