Even though the weather was cold and drizzly, it was beautiful there! Disclaimer though, we had a Subaru outback and we can get around fine on the sand but when the puddles filled with rain we did not have enough clearance to get through any of them because they get DEEP and it took at least 3-4 days for them to drain/dry and be drivable. Elevated trucks seemed okay.it's a nice time of year because guests aren't using generators nearly as much as they do in the summer. Stayed in cabin 7, everything functional.

Despite the federal gov't shutdown, staff were still present and very helpful for check in and answering questions, with a positive attitude.Cabins are functional, but very rustic.

BEDBUGS. Stayed in a cabin for ONE night in September, got bedbugs that infested my house (you don't know you have bedbugs until a few days after). Still dealing with them weeks later!! Would not recommend staying in these cabins.

This visit, like always, was an absolute pleasure. I enjoy the NPS staff interaction and being close to the ocean.

Cabin 23 was good overall. There were a few ants around and also a mouse. But otherwise it was okay. The beds slept well.

Always pleasant staff. Cabin was great. Hot water was better than the past. New siding looked great.

Amazing Experience!Rough cabin, yup. No luxuries, everything a bit worn, but a bed, a shower to get clean, a space to cook and views that are near paradise. Worth all of the lack of luxurious amenities for the back to basics, beautiful, uncrowded beach. A trip I will do time and time again.

Love this place. Please be thoughtful if you plan on bringing a generator. The sound of the ocean waves is so much nicer then a sputtering generator.

The NPS rangers were very efficient & friendly, and the cabins all seemed to be in good shape. Cabin # 1 is a good choice for one of the smaller cabins.

We loved that weekend; it was a great experience driving on the sand and fully enjoying the beach. It's one of our favorite places, and one we always want to return to. The cabins were great, all with mosquito nets and gas, and an unbeatable breeze.

The island was amazing! The ferry ride was quick and easy, with smooth loading and unloading. We brought our four-wheelers and had a blast riding them on the beach and using them to get around the island.The cabins were just as expected for a rustic stay. Since this was our first visit, we picked up a few lessons for next timelike bringing a tablecloth, as the tables werent the cleanest. We also brought a window AC unit, which was a lifesaver in the July heat.One recommendation would be to bring something extra to cover the mattresses, as they werent the cleanest eitherjust an extra layer between us and the sheets would have been nice.All in all, we loved it and are already planning to come back next year. It was a great trip!

The location and experience is absolutely unique. You can see the Ocean and the sound from your bed if you like. It's super basic but also cute somehow.We would definitely go again.

A beautiful National Seashore. A treadure.

Very hot weather. Not the cabins fault: but the time of year. cabin was bug free. The screens and windows are in need of repair. For the price: these things should be in working order.

My family and I have been visiting Cape Lookout (Great Island Cabins) for years. It's a favorite of ours. This last trip was somewhat of a disappointment, not because of the beauty of the island, but the condition of the cabins. I was hopeful the cabins would be at least slightly upgraded. The mattresses were in poor condition, rotting floors, invasion of ants, screens/windows in poor condition, etc. Especially, being the rates have gone up to rent the cabins. My reasoning for taking the time to write this review is because we plan to always revisit the island and are hopeful this will help make a difference.

Staff at the Great Island Camp was fantastic and very helpful. Beach is pristine and one must visit Cape Lookout Lighthouse.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
