I have gone to this location for 40 years. Great UNSPOILED BEACHES. Staff always helpful, no issues with the cabin. Superintendent Jeff West is great.

What a gem! Pure peace and serenity! Cabin was in good shape. Check in and check out was fast and easy. Park rangers were friendly and helpful. This is a great place to unwind, and to get away from your everyday hustle and bustle. Will definitely go back! (Just remember it’s camping, not glamping)

Location, location, location. Rustic camping cabin with warm water and a gas stove and oven. Oven is a bit unpredictable but still a luxury on the beach. The cabin offered great shelter during the North Easterner Storm that we experienced.

Burners on stove did not get hot enough. Water in shower hard to adjust. Otherwise had a great time

The cabin was super nice And clean the staff was very friendly and very helpful You definitely need some kind of 4x4 vehicle the sand was super soft in some places You want to make sure you reserve your ferry well in advance The cabins have running water with hot water and a nice place for your generator to go They also have a nice gas stove in them You will need to bring pots and pans and stuff like that

The cabins are amazing. They are in the middle of a little slice of heaven. Just make sure you know what you are renting. They are bare bones and this isn't glam camping by the standards of a lot of people. For our family, it is absolutely perfect. ProsComfortable bedsGas stovehot and cold running watershowertoiletRight on the beachSurf fishing sea shell collectingdriving up and down the beachYou can drive around with AWD if you are smart about it (4WD is recommended). We do and have never had a problem. ConsNot much. Some of the cabins could use some maintenance and TLC. With the amount of money that is brought in by renting them I am surprised they are not better maintained. Still, they are great and the major things on the ones we rented worked. Our sink drain leaked on last years rental. When it is hot as hades outside you will do well to bring a generator and air conditioner. There is no shade and the cabins get hot.

Park ranger at office very friendly and helpful. The volunteer checking for passes also very helpful. No hassles at all. Cabin as always was clean. No issues with cabin. Might suggest that the key drop off be reworked to accommodate the new key cards.

GREAT PLACE BUT NOT FOR EVERYONE. LIMITED CAMPING AREAS THAT WILL NOT OBSTRUCT ROADS. THIS ISLAND HAS NO PAVEMENT, ALL DRIVING IN THE SAND AND MUST HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE.

It’s very disheartening to see the cabins in such a state of disrepair. We’ve been coming here for 15 years and since the Park service took over managing the cabin they have really let them just go I understand there was a hurricane last year but the repairs they made were inexcusable. Checking in with the park rangers upon arriving to the island was a less than desirable experience. They really made us feel unwelcome and it left us with the feeling that the Park service doesn’t really want people visiting the island anymore. I understand it’s the national seashore which we want to maintain so the generations from now can enjoy it but why doesn’t the Park service offer little ranger talks to explain some of the safety measures that they’re taking to preserve the wildlife and preserve the integrity of the island. For the price we paid we could buy ourselves a camper and stay on the beach for free with every amenity we could want. It’s hard to believe the amount of money that the cabins bring in each month that there isn’t more effort into updating and renovating the cabins to make them more desirable
