Always a great time at the island! Love that the cabins are getting upgrades in appliances, windows, stairs, and exterior! Definitely needed it! The views are impeccable! Have been coming here for years! Will be back!

We stayed in Cabin 5 for 3 nights in May. The cabin was clean, and everything functioned properly. The volunteers and park staff were also very accommodating. We spent our days fishing from one end of the island to the other. The bite was slow, but we managed enough for a couple meals. It was nice to have a solid place to get out of the wind, take a shower and eat at the end of each day. We carried a small generator, which is nice, but we could have easily managed without one with some portable back-up power supplies to recharge our devices. The island is a special place. We are looking forward to our fall trips in October.

Pros: 1- Hot water worked in shower and kitchen.....occasionally correctly. 2- Gas Stove worked.....this time. 3- Light sockets worked....this time. Last time the bathroom light socket was corroded so bad it would not work. Cons: 1- Not enough places to hang jackets, fishing waders, and rain gear inside or outside. 2- Paper towel dispenser was broken. 3- No shelves in bathroom for toiletries. 4- No hooks for pans/pots near stove - in the past this always existed. 5- Missing shelving on right side wall near stove. This is for groceries, oil and such pantry items. All cabins had this in the past. 6- Why isn't there a light on the porch? Of all places, after a day fishing, it would at least be nice to have a light in the porch area to find food in the cooler and to change out of waders or beach gear.

Awesome place to be. The cabin was great and made it very comfortable for us without the hassle of setting up a tent. The young woman Ranger on duty May 14-16 is excellent. I can’t remember her name but she is always so cheerful and friendly.

Check in was seemless and cabin was in great shape! Awesome visit!!
Fees, fees, fees!! Y’all keep going up on everything but you won’t put any money back into the cabins. There was over $50k dock built to accommodate all the day trippers but you can’t spend a penny on the ragged cabins. The rates are out of this world expensive for what you’re getting. Yes it’s all about getting away but for $180 per night you could have some sort of power system like what was at Portsmouth. There’s mice and snakes in the one I just came from so be ware if you stay in cabin 5.
