Close to the valley and Tioga Pass Rd. Just inside the park entrance. Campsites are crowded and tightly bunched. Maybe it was just the weather, but sites were very smoky from all the campfires. Would stay again mostly due to the convenience to the park's highlights.

Hodgdon Meadow camping was really fun for our group. Site 34 is indeed on an incline. I thought I found a level ground to set up our tent but we found ourselved slipping throughout the night. Beware of ants that come out especially at night. A bit of a walk to the bathrooms and wash area but no overall major complaints.

My campsite was close to food locker. At night when I was trying to sleep, people were still opening and closing the locker, making a loud noise. It became quite after about 11pm. The ground was a little uneven at my site. Other than that, the campsite was nice and spacious. The mens bathroom has no lights while womens has.

Not level at all! My 23 Class C motorhome just fit, but was very much sloped in the back. A weird site overall and my least favorite campground (stayed this trip at all 3 Pines campgrounds + Wawona). There was no where to move the picnic table to that wasnt on a slant. Very small flat area to put chairs, but youd be really close to the fire ring. We were very much on top of our neighbors, which was a large group. Fortunately they were respectful, friendly and didnt stay up late. In general I noticed sites were very close to each other. This campground is literally just inside the West entrance (Big Oak Flat) and visitors center is across the street from the campground. Wasnt anything to do at the campground. My 11 yr old and I rode our bikes around. Took 5 minutes to see entire campground. Asked ranger if there were any hikes or fire roads to ride bikes or anything to do. He said stargaze. Was glad we were only here for 1 night and arrived late afternoon. Would have preferred to drive another 45 minutes into the valley to stay in one of the Pines campgrounds.

Very dusty, not level sites. We were in a camper van. Crowded and not much privacy anywhere. Nice warm welcome from the entry gate - thank you!

Campsite #71 was exactly what we wanted it to be. On the edge of the campground, with other quiet tent-camping neighbors to each side and just forest to the back. The walk from parking to camp was short and easy. Location was great for peace and quiet at night in camp and beautiful drives during the day to see the grandeur of Yosemite: one day in the Valley and one along Tioga road.

Very clean campground and easy to navigate to find your reserved site. After hours check-in was a breeze. Would definitely spend another night at this campground.

I wasnt expecting the walking campsite. Its tough carrying a ice chest to a bearbox up and down a hill. The whole campground is very hilly so tough to sleep in your vehicle when its not flat.
@LixinL29EFBAF6 · Camped on Jul 11, 2025 at Campsite #102
This site is close to 103. The different neighbors all paid zero attention to the quiet hours. Could not sleep even being extremely tired Worst part of Yosemite trip..

Its nice, a little small and close to the next campsite. Other than that its nice! Host are strict but i totally understand it just keep us at ease to ensure all wildlife and campers are safe. Bathrooms need a little update. But its okay!

Perfect spot very private. My sister and my brother stayed out in this site. Its hike in and huge. We stayed at #7 but this is much more better and leveled.

We rolled in very late and check in was very easy to manage the next day. Our group camping sites were very spacious. We especially enjoyed being at the end of the campground where the kids could play in the woods where we could still see them. There was ample space in the bear lockers for all of our toiletries and food items. Only wish we could've stayed longer.
@MazieK664D00CD · Camped on Jul 7, 2025 at Campsite #89
Extremely overcrowded with no campsite/trail etiquette. If you are hoping to experience nature, this is not the place. The campsite is more akin to a Walmart parking lot only good for people watching.
@BrianN3757947 · Camped on Jul 7, 2025 at Campsite #54
Walk-in campsites really aren't very far from the parking lots.
@JerrellRBDFA68 · Camped on Jul 6, 2025 at Campsite #26
This is a handy place to stay in Yosemite when nothing else is available. We stayed in the "hike in" sites and found them very closely spaced and located on slopes that were difficult to place tents on. If the sites were placed a little further from the road and parking spaces it would be easy to find flat spots for tents and a little more space and privacy. But there are signs posted saying that camping is not permitted beyond the boundaries of the campsite so people are packed in pretty tight. That said, this is a good staging area for adventures in the national park!
@Christina41928 · Camped on Jul 5, 2025 at Campsite #57
Campground was good but site 57 was not a good location- right next to the bathroom, not enough space for 2 tents, located in a cluster of campsites so close to each other the people at the adjacent campsite stayed up late talking and kept us up.
@Christina41928 · Camped on Jul 4, 2025 at Campsite #79
Nice campground near the park entrance. Site is in a cluster of campsites next to the parking area so easy set up.
@kaw8162B1C1163 · Camped on Jul 3, 2025 at Campsite #44
The sites are close to each other, and ground is quite sloped. The site next to us had 15 people, and they started cooking at 10pm. That said, I didn't mind these problems at all, these are not deal breakers for me.This site is 8 miles from Tioga pass. Merced Grove and Tuolumne Grove are nearby. Visitor center is practically within walking distance. Yes, it is kinda far from the Valley, and also kinda far from Tuolumne meadows, but location-wise I was pretty happy.
@ValerieS299120 · Camped on Jul 3, 2025 at Campsite #51
When it said hike-in campground, we expected to have a little distance from our site to others. They were right on top of each other.
@AbhinabK4A94A2 · Camped on Jul 3, 2025 at Campsite #3
The place did not have clear instructions on where to get potable water from. We saw people getting them from the bathroom itself, but we were expecting to have an independent water line for the water.
@NicoleS4864408 · Camped on Jun 30, 2025 at Campsite #60
It was great! The host ranger volunteers were so nice and very pleasant. The only downfall was the distance to the valley, but better than staying outside the park and battling the entrance lines.
@stephanie38834 · Camped on Jun 29, 2025 at Campsite #88
Great little campsite. We were able to fit 2 4-person tents and hang 2 hammocks. The sites here are small and right on top of each other, but the campground wasnt full and everyone was quiet and respectful of quiet hours so it wasnt a big deal. The rangers were very friendly and helpful. There is no firewood for sale, you can collect your own, but if you want big logs youll have to stop at one of the shops outside the entrance. I would stay here again for sure. This campground felt like a hidden gem in Yosemite. My one complaint was the fire ring at this site. Its very tall with a double grate. It was difficult to get a fire started and maintain it.
@elizabeth19786 · Camped on Jun 29, 2025 at Campsite #66
We had a walk in campsite (#66). Be aware that these campsites are very close together. Our tent was mere feet from other tents. There was shade and a level place for our tent, as well as trees for hammocks. The sites behind us were smaller and sloped off pretty quickly. We only slept here and then were gone all day adventuring in Yosemite, so we didn't mind the closeness except for lack of privacy and noise. Bring ear plugs! The potable water spigot was really high and you had to hold your water jug up at an awkward angle to fill. Recommend a wheeled cart for water transport, since the bathroom is in the center of several sites, not accessible by car. Also recommend a kitchen sink/plastic container, since they don't allow washing of dishes at the bathroom and you have to transport gray water back to the flush/drain at the bathroom. Temps were very comfortable in early July (90 in Yosemite Valley vs low 50's at night at Hodgdon Campground). Definitely bring warm layers.

Nice place! Very convenience check in and out especially late arrivals
@BernadettEA054 · Camped on Jun 25, 2025 at Campsite #98
After-hours check-inwhich is as early at 7PMis easy to do. Only downside of the campsite is that some sites do not have level ground, so be aware that you may have to employ strategies to level tents or your sleeping area inside them. If you are driving to the valley floor, try to get there before 9AM so as to be able to find parking easily.We booked our site only the week before, which is astonishing in the summer rush. If you are available in the middle of the week, I'd suggest trying for Yosemite camping then, as it is far more open than weekends.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
