Campground was great as an access point for Yosemite, it's approximately a ~45 min drive from the valley, shorter drive to Tioga road. Campground was spacious with generous sites. Sites are designated based on camping equipment (tent, RV/trailer). Some of the RV sites were not very level. Many of the tent sites were really nice, nestled in the trees away from the road. We stayed during the first come first serve period in early April. No problem finding a small RV site, even arriving in the afternoon on a Friday, and sites remained available through the weekend. Only complaint is that the only water spigots were at the 2 bathrooms. We were close to a bathroom so it wasn't a problem, but it would have been annoying if we were farther away from one.

It was a great clean place, but payment system was internet base or cash. We got there late and didnt have cash. There was no reception to pay online. Even though it was written on a post that it was possible to pay offline, it was not. We camped there and expected to get help the day after by the camp host as it was the case for many other campgrounds in the area we stayed in before. Suprisingly in the morning while we were still sleeping in our tent we found ourselves in a situation that a park ranger was shouting at our tent asking we had to come out. I opened the tents zipper and faced a gun carrying police officer aiming his torch light to my face talking aggrecively asking for my ID and started asking questions from me and my partner. I explained the situation but still he was behaving like he was talking to criminals asking my partner if there was any restriction on her driving licence. She answered no but he could double check it. He said your face does not like those kind of people! I am not sure what was that answer, whatever it was it was not a professional police work. The whole conversation was odd and unfriendly and disturbing with unprofessional manner in a situation that was not necessary for him to even do police work. BTW I should mention that there was not any camp host or burning wood available to buy and for almost 200 campground there was just one toilet and drinking water faucet availabe far from many campgrounds. Anyway we enjoyed our stay and the campground and Yosemite was beautiful as always!

Perfect spot very private. My sister and my brother stayed out in this site. Its hike in and huge. We stayed at #7 but this is much more better and leveled.

Mid-April was mellow, quiet and low key at Hodgdon Meadow. Highly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay here. Park ranger was extremely friendly and helpful. Stayed in spot 62. Beautiful. The biggest advantage of Hodgdon is also its biggest disadvantage. Its located immediately adjacent to the 120 park entry kiosk. That means its a great place settle in after arriving at the park, or to stage your departure, but its quite far from the valley and Village.

We got there when they were transitioning from reserving online to first come first serve, lucky for us because everywhere else was booked. The hike in camp gave a seclusion and the trails were picturesque. Overall, best camping experience ever.

Great, quiet campsite. Not what we expected in Yosemite at all and we were very, very pleased.
