The park rangers were excellent but the campground was shockingly primitive and very poorly designed. Few of the campsites were level, the toilet and washroom and other facilities were wholly inadequate. There were few if any picnic tables. We came from Portland Oregon and our experience in the national parks at Mt. Rainier and Crater Lake as well as in state and county campgrounds and in Canadian national and provincial park campgrounds was without exception far superior. It was an embarrassment that all the visitors who travelled across the country or from Europe or Asia had to endure such poor conditions. Yosemite is so significant both physically and historically for the American West, indeed the whole nation, that it is really sad that visitors experience is spoiled by a stay at Hodgdon campground.

Super dirty. The bathrooms were a mess. Seems like no one does any cleaning in the campground. All the sites are on a slope. And no showers whatsoever. Horrible place to stay in the park if you ask me.

Great location for access to Yosemite Valley. Campsites are quite close together so if other campers are not considerate, it can detract from the experience. Definitely recommend arriving before sunset as parking for specific campsites is at awkward angles and would be difficult to navigate in the dark!

I love how this campsite is still within the park limits. The camp accommodates tents, campers, all sorts of camping vehicles. There's a picnic table, fire ring and anti-bear box on every site, and there's well-spaced clean bathrooms. The trees make this place beautiful! The ground is good for tent-camping, though not totally even. I feel like the camp-sites are too close together- we discovered a few burns on our rain fly from adjacent campfires. Besides a few people being noisy late at night (to be expected) all was well.
