We got in late because we went to glacier point and we left at 6:30 sm the next day so we could get a park in the valley. Not much to comment on.

Site 88 is close to be even, short way to restrooms and in inner circle of campground with limited passing vehicles

Right by the Western entrance of Yosemite NP, just past the ranger station. It's about a 40 minute drive to the center of the valley where amenities and popular trailheads are located. An OK location, there are other campsites that are even farther from the valley so we felt pretty lucky to be less than an hour away. We got a great campsite next to the bathrooms that was very flat and large, great for a group of 6 with multiple tents. Some of the other sites we drove past in Hogdon Meadow were slanted - for those it would be hard to find a place to pitch a tent. There were lovely trees and a generally good vibe at the campground. Bathrooms were OK - flush toilets but very "rustic" ;) and there is no dishwashing area, just a giant mega-toilet that you can dump your graywater into and flush. There was a potable water spigot right above it. NO SHOWERS! This is a good campsite for those who don't mind being a little dirty. It seemed to me that about 1/3 of the sites were unoccupied during our stay, but every single campsite was booked on recreation.gov, so there are sadly lots of no-shows. I hope Yosemite has a system for giving away sites that are unoccupied on the first night of their reservation.

The water situation for the campground was pretty horrifying. The only source of drinking water was leaning up and over a dirty utility sink, at just the two restrooms. So only two very awkward water sources for the entire large campground.

It was extremely challenging physically for many women, short or older people and many people ended up getting splattered with water. One small older lady dropped her water container in the dirty utility sink, which looked like a huge toilet.

In Yosemite Valley the restrooms had water fillers on the exterior of the restrooms in addition to the utility sink. This should be provided at Hodgdon meadows.

We were at the campsite next to the utility sink so we listened to people struggling to get water and lined up doing dishes at the utility sink from about 5 am until midnight. I love Yosemite but this was the worst water situation I have ever experienced camping.

The campground was quiet because the road to the valley was closed and it took 2.5 hours (each way) to drive around the long way. The sad part was, I cancelled my two nights at a site in the valley because I drove down instead, took pictures and came back. I tried to extend my current campsite in Hodgdon but the site showed as booked and those pexpel NEVER showed up. It’s really rude when people don’t bother to cancel their sites when they don’t plan on using it.

The campsite staff was amazing! They tried to help but there was nothing they could do.
