Easy check-in. Site #23 is FHU and is level. We had a view of the lake and grilled outside on our own grill. There is a firepit. We did see a woodchuck as we were leaving in the morning.

I literally felt like I was on/in the scene of a nature documentary or movie. The scenery was breathtaking. I was not annoyed by mosquitoes which was great. Truly a wonderful experience!

We had a quick but lovely stay. Firewood was easy to get on the way in. Our site was easy to find. Each site had a good amount of space and the facilities were perfect. The best part was the sunset on the lake. We will be back again!

We stayed over night on our last leg of a two week trip. The campground is very clean and campsites are not on top of each other. The best pro is a 4:00 checkout.The con - The noise level from the highway is very loud at night. Looking at the distance of the highway to campground, you wouldnt think the noise would be disturbing. This con is why I didnt give the campground a five star rating.

One of our favorites along In 57 in Illinois! If the had FHUs and level sites, it would be a 5 star campground.

Gun Creek is always great. Added a day and Diana at the gate was very helpful. Spot 8 was very level and shaded.

The campground is in a nice location. Each site is medium sized - some have full hook-ups, but most have only electricity. The centrally located bathhouse is on the oldish side - but it's kept up and is cleaned well each day. The showers are nice but the shower heads are locked in a fixed position and spray water pretty far outside the shower area and got my clothes wet. The thing I saw multiple times during my stay were people making a mess in the dump station. One person flat-out dumped their black tank straight onto the pavement. It's a nice dump station - but a good percentage of the people abuse it.

Outside of the over-cleaning of the camp bathrooms that made my eyes sting, outside, the campground was fabulous!

Great campground we had a great stay

Excellent stopping point right off I-57. Far enough from interstate that road noise is not an issue.

Even though it rained most of the time we were there, the Bath House is always clean and plenty of hot water! Mist of the sites are easy to get into and are fairly level. There are a handful of sites that really angle down hill. Gun Creek has easy interstate on and off. Some highway noise, very tolerable. Plenty to do and wildlife to see in the area. Camp hosts are very personable and friendly. We camp there several time a season with our friends.

Great campground. Entrance is next to a golf course and there is a sign prohibiting vehicle traffic over 10 tons gross weight.. All the rules and regulations for this park do not mention a 10 ton gross weight limit and over 50% of the camping rigs in the park from my assessment were over 10 tons gross weight. For your information. I like to follow the rules and this sign is confusing.

Clean, quiet, lots of kids and families as well as friendly fisherman. Beautiful sites on the lake.

We have a class A 45 foot and since our first site I picked was not level enough she found us a better site. I will say the sites are not level so be prepared for that. However it is a great park and always full. They say it is also great fishing.

Enjoyed our weekend, with one minor hiccup, as there was a mud dobber nest in the 50amp receptacle. We were able to use the 30amp until the technician was able to replace it early next morning. Thank you for the quick response.

This is a beautiful park on a beautiful lake. We found the facilities to be very clean and well stocked during our stay. Our campsite, #52 in the Cardinals loop was a mostly level concrete pad and offered both 30 and 50 amp electric hookups at the pedestal. I would caution that many, if not all, of the campsites along the water are steeply sloped toward the lake making them more suitable to shorter towable units. Motorized units will have an extremely difficult, if not impossible, task to safely level the unit. There is a public golf course less than a half mile from the campground if you want to get a round in while camping, and it offers a clubhouse with restaurant where you can grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner if you feel like skipping a night of cooking. My visit was before the summer season, so the campground was almost empty during the week, but it filled up Friday and Saturday night. I am sure a location this beautiful is full almost every night during the summer. Site #52 in the Cardinal loop offered clear views of the sky for Starlink.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
