Gun Creek Campground in Franklin County is located 49 min northeast of Carbondale, IL with an elevation of 472 feet. There are a total of 100 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid March to the end of November. 99 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 99 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 25 sites have electric and water hookups. 74 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $30.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, flush toilets. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

Great location, close to not only I-57 but lakeside to Rend Lake. Beautiful views, well laid out spacious sites.

Site 10 is level. Great value. Just an overnight stay, but lots to do if you want camp here for a few days. Good ACoE campground.

Our site was nice; we were close to the lake and the showerhouses [we were dry docking]. We enjoyed watching all the people strolling around with their dogs. The park is very pretty and navigating through it was easy. The only thing I did not like was that the showerhouse had no hot water for taking a shower. People staying in tents or dry docking in an RV [like us] really appreciate hot water to take showers. That is the only thing that I would mark your campground down for. Everything else was nice and beautiful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We camp here very often at least once a month since we are local and its a nice place to camp. We where so excited to get out and go camping from being cooped up inside all winter! And we where they first campers in the place, but when we got to our site I guess they either had to cut down a tree or it fell. And our site was still covered in tree debris. We picked up and picked up sticks for hours! It was hard to even walk around and set up, it was on both sides of the camper! I don't know how they would even cut the grass around the area. I was even tempted to go buy a rake to get it cleaned up enough. The only good that came out of it was we didn't have a problem getting our fires started! I know this is just petty but it was just a little aggravating! We still had a good weekend!

Great spot, not level, but good amenities. The lake is not easy to access due to rocks between the shore and the water.

Wonderful place to be for a night or several more nights. Quiet, peaceful by the water, lots of room on each site. We have visited here more times than we can count. Perfect place to rest and relax. We also had a great chat with Dakota - one of the hosts. Our Lab pups loved him. Very sociable and there to help. Thank you!!!

Gun Creek campground stay was excellent. Full hook ups, easy back in site, easy access to area to hook and unhook TOAD. Future travelers beware though, road to campground has a posted weight limit of 10 ton. Many Class A's will exceed this posted weight limit.

Excellent 2 day stay. A good well maintained camp facility that was quiet & peaceful. Would stay here again. Camp hosts were friendly & helpful.

Gun Creek is my favorite campground. The people that check you in are friendly and very helpful. The bathrooms are nice. I especially love the views of the lake.

We arrived late and were only staying one night, so did not get to experience much. Took a walk in the morning down to the lake and it was nice
