South Sandusky Campground in Franklin County is located 49 min northeast of Carbondale, IL with an elevation of 483 feet. There are a total of 127 campsites including 8 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the end of March to the beginning of November. 119 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 45 and 99 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. 89 sites have electric and water hookups. 30 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $16.00 to $26.00. Some amenities include shower, playground, swimming, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include biking, fishing, hiking trails.

We were at site 176. The area is absolutely beautiful. Loved having lots of shade and flat ground to camp on. We definitely will be coming back. Lots of pretty scenery and the lake is vast. We were awakened to many birds in the morning and visited by a few raccoons at night. We drove through all the other campgrounds for future trip spots.

We love Rend Lake especially North and South Sandusky Campgrounds. Rend Lake is a well maintained area

We chose site 206 which was comfortably distant from camp side neighbor and we couldn't see the others idea. With part of our facing the woods it was very peaceful and relaxing.I would highly recommend camping here.

Excellent campground. Beautiful. Quiet. Well kept. There was a camper that had 2 large aggressive dogs which were chained but one broke loose and attacked another dog being walked by someone. This was very disturbing.

210 had some good internet reception. Weather could have been better. Water was rough couldn't put the boat out. Very windy. None of this is the campground fault or issue, mother nature to blame. The bike/walk path is awesome. Too early for wildlife spotting's, usually we see a lot. I would recommend this campground to everyone. Love it

The campsites are well maintained. The bath house was very clean. The campsite was roomy. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. We love staying at this campground.

Rend Lake South Sandusky is an excellent place to camp.Only thing missing was a sewer hookupat our site. Place is well maintained and wouldn't hesitate to go back. It's about 2 hour drive from Missouri where we came from. Found a excellent place to eat with great food The Mill bar and grill. It's a old feed store. Good eats.

A beautiful campground, surrounded by tall pines and fresh air. The whole facility was immaculate, no trash seen on any of our hikes and we look to help out by picking up trash! The assistant at the front gate was extremely friendly and helpful as we wanted to buy some wood and she directed us to a lovely local store. Highlights include, viewing the white pelicans and identifying 33 varieties of birds with the help of the Merlin ap. We never saw the sun and it drizzled or flat out poured the whole time but we still thoroughly enjoyed the escape from city life and the serenity that the wilderness offers.

Should advise campers to bring extended/extra long sewer hose as sewer hook up is towards front of camp site. We could not use sewer hook-up but used the dump station when leaving
