A beautiful campground, surrounded by tall pines and fresh air. The whole facility was immaculate, no trash seen on any of our hikes and we look to help out by picking up trash! The assistant at the front gate was extremely friendly and helpful as we wanted to buy some wood and she directed us to a lovely local store. Highlights include, viewing the white pelicans and identifying 33 varieties of birds with the help of the Merlin ap. We never saw the sun and it drizzled or flat out poured the whole time but we still thoroughly enjoyed the escape from city life and the serenity that the wilderness offers.

Excellent campground. Best in the area. We go there 10 - 12 times a year. Would love if there is WIFI available. Would pay extra.

Although we have stayed in this system of campgrounds several times. We typically visit I other locations in that area....This was our first time at Sandusky..... with that said, we found that Sandusky had a serious trash problem. Absolutely beautiful campground with garbage everywhere. Our campsite was not cleaned when we got there. It had Crayons and coloring stuff all over and under the picnic table. There was little wrapper from Capri Suns everywhere. Now I understand that kids make messes. But parents, y’all need to clean up after your little ones. Don’t leave it for the next guy.... I don’t want to clean up your kids mess, I have enough of my own kids to clean up after. Also, it would be a suggestion to make sure that you’re watching your kids and if they’re littering all over the kids playground. It’s gross. I won’t blame Sandusky for the entire trash problem because while we were there we witnessed several parents not following behind these kids creating a giant mess. So I will say that. However, it is their responsibility to maintain a clean campground and monitor and control the situation when it comes to big parties like this. I know this, my husband and I have worked with national forest campgrounds. Overall, still a beautiful campground and I’m hoping that this was just the one time and not a reflection of Sandusky in general.

We have wanted to stay at Rend Lake for so long. We finally got our chance. All I can say is WOW. The campsite was generous and clean. The recreational trail was close by. The campground hosts were so helpful. We camped in the South Sandusky campground with a 38’ 5th wheel. We had an extra car & a kayak trailer. Plenty of room. No hassles.
