Gun Creek and South Markumn are our favorite stop over spots while traveling on highway 57. Lots of sites on Rend Lake and plenty of space between sites.

Very nice campground, well maintained, with clean facilities. There is no firewood available for sale, the closest (and cheapest) place to purchase is Ace Hardware. The office is only open during certain hours. Site 028, Loop Nigh is where we stayed recently. Only steps from the water with good bass and catfishing. However, that particular site has no water/sewer hook up, and is on a pretty steep grade. Even with blocks on the axle, it was nearly impossible to drop the hitch jack low enough to level it. Was able to level enough to use the refrigerator in the travel trailer. The grassy area on the canopy side was completely water logged, so we had to walk around the camper to access the picnic and firepit area on the site. All in all a wonderful visit, and campground, I just failed to read the reviews on that particular site prior to booking. Happy Camping to All!

Our site was just perfect. We are tent campers, so it’s important that there is a grassy place to set up. Thank you!

Gun Creek campground was very nice. We had site #28 on the north end of the campground and the view was amazing. We loved being right on the water but two things about the site were undesirable. First was the slope of the site. It sits on a steep hill and with our stabilizers all the way down, our trailer was still nose-up. The other unforeseen issue was the smell from the septic tank. There is a nice playground and bathroom on the north end of the campground but the septic tank for it is right at the entrance to site 28. It wasn't a constant problem but we did notice the "scent" on several occasions. Other than those two small issues, the campground as a whole was very nice. The showers were decent and the water, dump and trash facilities were good.
