Before arriving at Cosby, I had just spent a couple of nights at Elkmont, the campground that carries all my childhood nostalgia. I love Elkmont, but its also the most crowded spot in the Smokies, so I was ready for something quieter.Cosby was exactly that. The campground is tucked into a more peaceful corner of the parkclean, beautifully kept, and far less congested than Elkmont. With my Jeep Gladiator overlanding rig, I could just pull in and pop up my rooftop tent with ease. The sites were spacious, manicured, and from my experience, completely tranquil.The real highlight is its access to Mount Cammerer. At the ranger station in Elkmont, I was told this hike was a must, and after some research I found the trailhead starts right at Cosby Campground. The route up Low Gap Trail to Mount Cammerer is no small taskabout 12 miles round tripbut the fire tower at the summit rewards you with some of the most breathtaking views in the Smokies.Cosby may not carry the personal memories that Elkmont does for me, but it offers something I treasure just as muchsolitude, beauty, and direct access to one of the parks greatest hikes. Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the crowds and experience the Smokies in a more serene way.

Beautiful place. Towering trees. Was very quiet the three days I was there. The campsites are either up or down from the parking spots so you need to be reasonably mobile to enjoy your stay. Plenty of water but not hot. No cell connection.

This was the first time I RV camped on A Loop. (A-59) Poor campsite. Could not extend awning because of a tree. Pavement drop-off and severe ground sloping away made it a long first step to enter camper. My seemingly fit neighbor in the adjacent handicapped spot, 61, opted to run his generator from about 8 to 10 in the mornings and 5 to 8 every evening and he pointed the exhaust my direction. Perhaps you could add to the the rules: "Respect you neighbor, keep generator usage to a minimum". Please strive to open B Loop next year. I have used B-88 and B-93 many times and really enjoy either one. Bath room was clean and well kept.

Had a wonderful overall experience at Cosby Campground, due to the campsite hosts Mark and Cathy. Recreation.gov created an absolute bureaucratic NIGHTMARE for us when we needed to change our campsite upon arrival, but Mark helped us proactively navigate the situation with empathy and genuine good-heartedness. Because of his efforts, we were ultimately able to switch sites and had a fabulous time in our new location. It was awesome to chat with him and Cathy during the process; it's evident that they both take their roles as campsite hosts and National Park volunteers very seriously. They will be moving on from Cosby to another location soon, and campers at this site will feel their loss! They were the best of the best.

This place is so amazing we came back to stay a few more nights before we headed to our next destination. The wildlife here lots of turkeys and fireflies are amazing. The camp host was amazing. Its nestled away from crowds and seems well run.

Great quiet campground in the Smokies. Very clean restrooms and awesome campground hosts to help if needed. Our trip was a bit wet so prepare yourself for rain. But hey, its the Smokies! B loop wasnt yet open but the work is underway to remedy that situation.

The campsite was excellent. The camp host was a great guy who was friendly and knowledgeable. Not our first time staying at Cosby and certainly will not be our last.

There was a road delay. That was a bit long. But a pretty rustic location once we arrived. We had a site near the restroom. Which was nice.

Nice, small park. The camp host was awesome and recommended seeing the fireflies, which was amazing. The park was quiet and well maintained. Our RV spot was small (class B). I doubt you could fit a larger camper there. I would definitely go there again!

Only problem was there was road and parking lot paving going on. There was a lot of noise and delays coming in and going out

Fall leaf colors were beautiful, really something, even right in the campground-- we must have been there on the peak days. We've stayed at Cosby many times, it is a favorite and in our closest national park.

Awesome spot. Please be aware that it has quite a bit of inclination from rear to front-will be difficult to make travel trailer level unless you are prepared to lower the front end to about 12 inches off the ground. This assumes your in a trailer of about 25ft in length.

Plenty of hiking trails and peace and quiet. Beautiful campground with large untouched trees. Bathrooms were awesome. Cosby is off the beaten path. Very secluded and just a beautiful area. The camp host and staff was awesome!

Cosby is a large remote campground. There were some RV's but mostly tenters. No generators that I heard. Limited local services; expensive firewood; no cell service for 3 miles. That said, the tulip trees are spectacular. This older CG is full of them. Site A-19 is one of the better ones in the entire CG. Most of the sites are close together with little privacy. This one has 2 sides private. There is a cutoff trail that goes thru the site. So expect the occasional rude person strutting through the middle. There is a small family cemetery 100ft beyond the site. So, don't go here on Halloween. :-)

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
