Wawona was grrreat!!! We were disappointed that we couldn't get a spot in the Valley, but Wawona was about a 25-minute drive and offered VERY pleasant camping experience next to a Merced River fork that was clear and jumpable. Our family had a blast, and even biked around the entire campground for added adventure! This is equally, if not better, location for exploring the Glacier point ridge.

Honestly loved this campground! Our site was right by the river, which made for a beautiful and peaceful setting. The bear boxes were spacious and easily fit everything we needed to store. There was plenty of parkingenough for two cars per siteand most of the bathrooms had lights, which was a nice. While there werent any showers nearby, we rinsed off in the river and used the showers at Curry Village without any issues.

I love how each site has plenty of room and close to a river. Not all site has flat area for the tent so I considered myself lucky. Super close to gas station and little market to get what you need.

Very nice campground but it should have shower.

Nice campground next to a beautiful river with lots of trees and more space and privacy than in Yosemite Valley. Our stay was very quiet. Check out the Wawona historic area, its only a minute away and there is a store there for camping supplies.

We love Wawona and were so happy to be back camping! The campground is very clean and the park staff are friendly and helpful! We miss Ranger talks in the evening but love that staff were always either walking the grounds or driving by making their presence known.

Our second time staying here--I love this campground. We enjoyed biking the Meadow Loop and swimming/fishing at the Swinging Bridge.

My family had an excellent time here! We brought our 2 year old and there were a lot of other families. Having the river nearby was great for a quick dip. Having the bathrooms there were really helpful too. It was a 30-min drive into the valley. We will definitely come back!

We stayed at 84c site. It is large and near the toilet but not too close. You still can hear the river at night and it wasnt overwhelming. I would come again

I stayed in #9, #13 and #18. #9 was a nice level back in space next to the river. There really wasn't any view or access to the river due to over growth. #13 and #18 parallel the road on a significant down hill slant with not much room to park between the road and the large rocks. The restrooms are very rustic, have no electrical outlets because they are solar powered. There are no door latches on any of the stalls. I found it very creepy that there were no lights on when dark outside. I am a solo female traveler who appreciates well lit restrooms. All of the restrooms in the campground were dark at night except for two. The three stars are for the rangers who manage the campground. All were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Corner lot fairly close to the bathrooms. Great shade on a hot day but be sure to bring a canopy during warmer days!

Being a disabled Veteran, it was a surprise that my wife had to pay to reenter the park when she went to pick up supplies for me. My advice is not to send someone for any supplies unless you accompany them. Park Rangers were fantastic. I would go back as the campground was pretty quiet aside from the camper that went up on the hill and started chopping wood for his campfire. Increased patrols would stop that behavior. Do not use card tap at gas stations in nearby town.

Beautiful camp but roads are very narrow and hard to avoid collision with other rvs.

nice campsite away from the busy Yosemite Valley. Would so benefit from some sort of shower facilities

Wawona campground served the purpose and the park worth the wait for entry.

The campgrounds were well-kept, and the toilets were clean. I was expecting vaulted toilets, but they were not, which was a pleasant surprise.

Great place to stay to get an early start for the Glacier Point Road. Facilities are basic but adequate. They include flushing toilets, potable water, trash, and food storage lockers.

Love to stay here. Its only the sound of river. The site was on a slope that I slided down on the sleeping pad every night. The water is so clean. Its a quiet campground in Yosemite. An hour drive to the valley though.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
