Beautiful spot. Bugs were out like crazy, and the trains are pretty loud and close by, but stop during late night.

Clean and quiet. This is the perfect place to spend some quiet time in the shade just watching the Mississippi River. Great camp hosts and Park Ranger.

It is unbearable to enjoy oneself when 4 sets of railroad tracks are filled with never ending very loud freight trains. All day.All night.I will never return...

Gorgeous campground. Well kept. Water is very accessible almost from any site. The park staff are all very friendly. Most sites are paved concrete. There a couple that arent. Good fishing when the water isnt so low. Potosi is one heckuva friendly town and brewery to go to. The only caveat to this. Trains. If you are a really light sleeper. This place isnt for you. The trains are really loud.

Most sites are level. Many have cement pads. There are some nice views of the Mississippi River. The park grounds were well maintained. The only drawback is the frequent train traffic. Train rumble can be heard from both sides of the river. There wasnt much of whistle noise just the rumbling of the trains. With our rv windows shut we got a good nights sleep.

Grant River is always a nice place for us to stay on our way to other places. My only "complaint" would be the train...but it's a bit unavoidable!

Camping at Grant River recreation Park is great for getting away for a few days. I have Loved the time I have spent there. Fishing is a little tricky because of the grass so a dock to get out past it would be awesome.

We really enjoyed our visit, even though we only stayed for one night. The park is right along the Mississippi River, and very scenic. Its well maintained and our campsite was level with plenty of space. We drove over to Dubuque for dinner, then after driving around to look at the beautiful houses, enjoyed watching a two-person kayak go through the locks.

Enjoyed the trains on one side, river traffic on the other.
@TomF2764999 · Camped on Sep 6, 2024 at Campsite #6
Beautiful, clean park right next to the Mississippi River. I would LOVE to camp again there, but unfortunately, it was also right next to (within 75') of two very busy railroad freight line tracks. There were one to two trains every hour throughout the day and night sounding their horns three or four times as they approached the campground entrance road that crossed the tracks. It was very hard to sleep well and for that reason, I can never go back.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
