Rained a lot. We had puddles on our lot and on the road in front of our site. Was fun watching the kids ride their bikes through the water. Nearby attraction is the Dutch Windmill at Fulton ,IL. Bear's Drive Inn at Thomson messed up our food order twice.

This is a very nice campground. Mayflies were prolific but thats to be expected by the river. Families with kids showed up on Thursday with their bikes and the parents hadnt trained their kids to respect other peoples campsites. Id say that was the only drawback to the experience.

Great place on the river -- saw 5 tows go through the #14 lock which is close to camp -- clean place with low water pressure in the showers but the water was the right temp. -- I/we will be going back -- Voulonteers are the best!!

Nice campground. Quiet. Much wildlife in stream off of the Mississippi River to view. Campfire could have been a little farther from trailer but ample wood available from camp host and easy to purchase. Would return

Very nice COE campground. Location is nice, not much locally - but Clinton IA is 9 miles away.Campsites are level, and easy back-ins.

While the new pavement is nice, it's just a concrete island when it rains. We were there on July 10th when a huge storm came through. Lots of rain and high winds. Anywhere that was grass just became a lake. With big flooding, potentially over the causeway exit, we felt it safer to pack up and move up tp higher ground. So we all moved up by the restrooms. Nobody from the camp ground ever came to check on us. About 10PM a fireman drove in to see how we were. He gave us road conditions he was aware of, including 84 north with wires down across the road. With a second round of storms coming on Friday the 11th we went home. Our check out date was Sunday. So we lost our money for 3 nights. While rain is not the fault of the park, the way they handled it was poor at best. Just a week earlier a camp ground in Texas was swept away.

First, I was there during week following the july 4th holiday. The campground was not crowded. Campsites all had level concrete pads, as well as utilities and water that I did not need. Rest room facilities were clean and there was a facility available for showers. There were a number of hiking trails but the thing that attracted me was the bike trail access to the Great River Bike trail which provide a paved bike trail to lock 13 and beyond. The portion of the trail that passed through a sand prairie nature preserve was full of wild life and I had the 10 miles of trail to myself. There was also an abundance of Gulls, Pelicans, Cranes also present in and around the camp ground. All in all, I would rate my experience as Thompson Causeway as excellent for my purposes and I definitely plan to visit it again

Great place! Very clean! Rangers very helpful. Would suggest taking the Twighlight Boat Ride and Antique Archaology from the Pickers Show in Le Claire, IA!

We love camping at Thomson Causeway until this time. We did not know that the Mayflies were out. We had a campsite on the water and were attacked by the bugs. I would definitely check in the month of June/July for bug conditions. Otherwise it is one of our favorite places to camp.

This is a good spot. Loved it. Better than the last spot. The water hookups are good. Cant wait for all spots to be concrete patio.

We loved our site - very spacious! Was nice to see the Park Rangers walk through a few times. We were across from a nice grassy area (site 21), and my only complaint is that apparently people don't feel the need to pick up their dog poo there. ARG. I know there are bags and disposal stations in other parts of the campground - this may be a perfect place to put one in hopes it may encourage people to use it. Love it here!

View was spectacular. The proximity for facilities was disappointing, but the cleanliness was even worse. The number of showers per campsite was very low too. Inconsistent enforcing of powered vehicles by different personnel. Limited play area for kids. Campers walked through your campsite without a care. Very different experience than our family is used to. If we come back it would be for the view, not any type of amenity offered.

Beware of mayfly hatch last week of June to 1st week of July. Unimaginable for 2 nites next to main river. Slough sites better. Sites were great with river views. Great clean park. Ill be back just at different time of season

Would have been 5 stars but the "buddy sites" in the new area were not clearly defined when I originally booked site 89.

Lovely, very well kept campground. Sites are very level, and all of the sites in my loop had a water view.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
