Great place for biking and to see the wildlife on the Mississippi. Close to Galena.

Very fun to be so close to the water! Noise travels in this campground, few trees on the waterfront sites.

We Love camping at Thomson Causeway. The sites are big and quiet. It is close to a world-class bike trail and there is a lot to do in the area. The fee taker is very friendly and the park is well maintained.

These grounds are well maintained and over great views of the Mississippi at one of its widest sections. We stayed 4 nights, (2 adults & 2 dogs). Great hiking and biking trails are near by.

This was our first visit to this beautiful campground. We had site 87 in the River Birch campground loop. The view and space were all I had hoped for and more! We took time to ride through all 4 campground loops and the day use area. The south Potter loop looked a little too wooded for our preference but there were a LOT of nice sites in all the loops. There were five shared water spigots in the River Birch loop, two of them actually on the outside of the loop, across the road from campsites. These two were useful for anyone entering the loop to fill their tank. It would have been nice to have a small dump site for "turd toters" at the shower house nearest this loop like the one in the north Potter loop. Having a local site would save towing waste all the way to the main dump station which is "outside" the campground areas. Each loop had a a playground area, as did the day use area. Each playground had different equipment.

First camping day of the Season, and everything was in perfect condition!Dusty's Pizza in Thomson is a great place for pizza, and many other menu options. Small town, great service & food.

We were lucky enough to get a site on the Mississippi River. The park is clean and well maintained. Changing reservations is so simple and stress free. Don't miss the place, the thousands of waterlilies are worth the trip!

Love this campground. Sites are roomy, Many are on water, plenty of water hydrants and power system is good. We are birders so it is a great place to watch many kinds of birds: eagles, sandhill cranes, white pelicans, red headed woodpeckers, redstarts, canada geese, wood ducks, owls, etc. It is also on the Mississippi flyway and a ranger station is just up the road. It is also not far from Galena, Savanna, Clinton or LeClaire, Iowa. It has a boat launch for great fishing and is connected to the bike trail that goes from Savanna, IL to i believe Rock Island. And it is far enough from the train tracks as to not be a noise issue. Another plus is that for Golden Age Pass members the camping is half price.
