Great place to paddleboard, hammock, read, swim, camp. Lovely campsite!

Our Campsite was nice, with a good lake view plus it was close to potable water, a wastewater dump site and a dumpster was nearby but not too close. The Camp host was great. We had a great time and we will be back.

I just loved the peaceful and clean site. I was happy that the bathrooms were nice and clean. The host was SO nice and so friendly and explained everything to keep us safe. He was great with the boys, and I think even brought them treats. My plan is to return year after year and bring treats to augment his stash. This is our second year, and I don't remember much from last year because I was hobbled badly with a broken ankle, so I stayed in our campsite the whole weekend. But this year we used the boat ramp and the lake shore, and it was awesome.

The camp ground is in a beautiful wooded area. Each site was clean and roomy with plenty of space in between sites. The camp host is friendly, informative and keeps the bathrooms spotless. I highly recommend.

Tom was the best camp host you could ever ask for. You could tell he puts a lot of effort to make sure the sites are pristine and they sure were! Tom helped my husband cart the wood back to our site since we bought a ton of firewood and didnt bring a camp cart. He was super friendly to our pup and really made the whole trip. This is a great bunch of sites on the south shore of Detroit lake. The water access was easy and made for some fun days and cozy nights. It was really a quiet campground, so peaceful and relaxing!

Ive forgotten the camp hosts name, but he is a gem. Absolutely wonderful. Kind, helpful, great with the kids. The campground is great as well but he completes the experience.

One of our favorites! It is a clean and quiet campground with beautiful views. Camp host is wonderful - friendly and good at his job. The bathrooms were always clean and stocked, camp host always available to help or just chat. We look forward to returning here each summer.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience camping at Detroit Lake South Shore Campground, specifically at Site #30. The site itself was spacious, well-maintained, and offered a great mix of sun and shade perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.The facilities were spotless, which made a big difference in our stay. Its clear that the staff takes pride in keeping the campground clean and welcoming.A special shoutout to Tom, the camp host he was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a great time. He regularly checked in with campers and was happy to answer questions or offer tips about the area. You could tell he loves what he does, and it really enhanced the whole experience.I will absolutely be back and will try to reserve Site #30 again. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-run campground experience.

My husband and I had a great time at Southshore Detroit Lake. 5 stars! The campground and toilets were clean and the fishing was great. And Tom, the camp host, is terrific. He was friendly and really cared about doing what he could to make sure we had a good, fun, safe stay. This was the second time we stayed at Southshore and well be going back. A great place.

The campground was beautiful, and clean. My only complaint was that the bathrooms closest to us were horrible. I could smell them from 20-30ft away. But the bathroom closer to the host was nice and clean.

The campground host was great, the sites are spread out enough that you have some sense of privacy and the lake is beautiful. Plenty of cool hikes within driving distance as well.

This campground was very well kept, it was clean and easy to access. Having the lake so close was also a plus. The bathrooms were clean.

We love this campground, we go every year and have stayed at several sites. This year (Aug. 2024) was the best. The camp host this year was incredible. Once or twice a day he'd cruise by to see if everything was going well or if we needed anything. He was able to help us figure out where to get more propane. We Camp at different places a couple of times every year. This year at this campground the toilets were the cleanest I've ever seen, that's a nice perk! No bugs! They are obviously cleaned thoroughly and often. The lake was a blast, we paddled around the island and had a great time!

It was a gorgeous area, the camp ground was clean and beautiful, and most of all, the camp host was phenomenal. If the other great things about this camp ground weren't enough to get us to camp there again, the camp host put it over the top. He was friendly, helpful, and he even gave fun camping stickers to our kiddos!! We will be back :)

Host did not enforce quiet hours and fire ban. Neighbors celebrated whole night long. Campsite itself was very nice. Poor restrooms.

Beautiful and great location.

Wonderful spot! Shaded, which helped with heat. Lakefront and easy access to water. Though, this opened up to having the public playing on the beach and in the water in front of the campsite, as well as trying to cut through your camp spot to get to the water. Close access to water spigot and toilet. A bit of a hike in, but doable. Overall, a beautiful spot and enjoyable. I would stay here again.

Everything was great and as described online. Had great cell service, bathrooms are kinda gross and lame but thats expected. The host, Tom, was exceptional! He was always so kind and helpful when he would stop by to check on us. Gave chocolate to kids and dog bones to the dogs!
@JanetF1272231 · Camped on Jun 23, 2024 at Campsite #19
Beautiful few days on the lake. Facilities are well cared for, quiet hours were quiet and the campsites are generous and afford privacy for those of us who really want to relax and recharge!
@MarianneM51974 · Camped on Jun 18, 2024 at Campsite #23
Nice, large campsite overlooking the lake. Only drawback - driveway a bit far from the campsite (table, fire ring). We were in a camper van, it still worked and we loved it!

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
