Van Hook Glade Campground is located in the Nantahala Ranger District, National Forests in North Carolina (1 hr 51 min northwest of Anderson, SC) with an elevation of 3,255 feet. There are a total of 10 campsites including 3 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of April to the end of October. 7 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 20 and 36 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Prices start at $24.00 per night. Some amenities include swimming, flush toilets. Activities include fishing, hiking trails.

Van Hook Glade was a nice campground with a good host. The bathrooms and showers were clean, even though when I took a shower, there were several long legged spiders in there.

Such a beautiful, nice, clean, and intimate campground. Our family of three absolutely loved the experience. The host was visible and friendly. The facilities were clean and well-kept. We would absolutely come back again.

This is a great base location for exploring the Highlands area which is filled with waterfalls and awesome hiking trails. Mark, the friendly campground host was very helpful and kept the grounds and facilities clean.

The site I stayed on was the only one not to receive new gravel on the tent pad, so it did not drain properly during rain. Some of the campsites are not ideal, so be sure to check the descriptions and photos. Be aware that my campsite was raided by a bear early one morning while I was sleeping. Take proper precautions and don't have any food outside or in your tent. Just because it's close to town, that doesn't mean there are no bears.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds! Most sites are very secluded, and the entire campground is usually quiet. The trail up to Cliffside Lake Recreation Area is convenient, too.

EveryThing was fine but there was not the usual trashcan near the shelter so we had to carry our trash a ways. It would have been helpful to have that.

- Our campsite was big, and easy to get into. It was very close to the road, so there was a lot of road noise.- The camp host was outstanding, and very friendly. Kept the campground in good shape.- The trails were ok, but the provided trail map was difficult to make sense of.- Close to several excellent waterfalls.

Beautiful campground with an isolated feel. Well kept bathrooms and sites were clean. The campground host was friendly. We will be back!

We had a blast one night camping at VHG. The restroom was clean. We stayed at site #13, [with a] small creek behind our tent. The host was very helpful and nice. There's a trail that goes to Cliffside Lake. The camp [was] very quiet. We will be back and plan to stay more nights next time.

Wonderful campground, even more wonderful camp hosts! The bathrooms were always clean, great access to the river, spacious campsites. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this beautiful place.

We've been returning to Van Hook for 50+ years, and it remains as special and beautiful as always! Super Camp Hosts made this year's visit extra special! They were welcoming, hospitable, and kept bathrooms & showers clean too ! Much appreciated!!

Private and convenient sites. Large tent pads (site 13 was 18+ft x 14+ft). Mark, the camp host, was awesome. Came by and checked us in, and kept the facilities in great shape throughout our stay. Great campground!
