Another great weekend at Van Hook Glade.

Dont stay in C5. Its right across from where the park vehicles park and you will hear them coming and going early in the morning, and people walking over to stand right in front of your campsite to make phone calls.

- Our campsite was big, and easy to get into. It was very close to the road, so there was a lot of road noise.- The camp host was outstanding, and very friendly. Kept the campground in good shape.- The trails were ok, but the provided trail map was difficult to make sense of.- Close to several excellent waterfalls.

Pros- The campground and sites were very clean and shaded.Cons- It is loud. Cars and trucks constantly zooming by so its quite loud and not a very relaxing camping experience. The bathhouse was clean but had so much air freshener that it was an instant headache, you smell for hours after using the restroom and the wind carried the awful chemicals throughout the campground. If you like chemical headaches and lots of noise this is the place for you. We only stayed one night instead of the two we reserved.

Love this small quiet campground. Bathroom had showers that were almost hot. Camp hosts were helpful and friendly. Our 32 ft travel trailer fit fine, but roads to campground are very narrow and curvy. No cell and no starlink due to tall trees. Site 9 would be a good starlink option, next time! We were in site 20, road noise during the day, but quiet at night.lots of pines and rhododendron, I really like this place.

Very nice campground, which wasn’t crowded at all. The only problem is that there are no hook ups and not even a dump station.

Beautiful, quiet campground just 4.5 miles from Highlands, NC. Lots of waterfalls to see and some great hiking trails nearby. Sites 20 and 21 are pretty but so close to the road the highway sounds will make you a little nuts if you are in a tent. Clean bathroom and shower facilities. I totally recommend Van Hook Glade.

Nice little site, but lots of daytime traffic. With camp site pass, free admission to recreation area right nextdoor with beautiful hiking and lake access. Camp host Frank is a gem and keeps bathrooms spotless. Lovely area!

We had a great time even though it rained for quite a bit of it. There were plenty of spaces to hang our hammocks and the scenery was amazing. The lakes and waterfalls around here are fun adventures to go on with the kids. Very quiet and everyone we did meet was friendly. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful place. Very nice people, especially Joseph. My campsite (#20) was very near the road so I heard every vehicle going by at night and early in the morning.

We had a fantastic time here at site #20. It is near the road leading up to the Highlands but after sunset there are not many cars coming or going. The campground facilities were very clean and pretty nice. We did not get to go hiking on the trails at the campground but we will definitely do it the next time we come!

The site was very nice and the on-site staff were helpful! The lake is maybe a mile-and-a-half away and was full of trout and panfish. However, there are few useful fishing spots (maybe 5-6) around the entire lake, that being said the view was awesome and we enjoyed catching a few fat panfish! Between the campground and Highlands there is a waterfall just off the left side of highway 64 that is usually fairly crowded but nice. Dry Falls on the right is hard to get into due to the high volume of traffic and we were not able to visit. If one does need some supplies Highlands is a short windy drive away but be aware that the traffic from Dry Falls backs the road up after 8-9 am heading towards Highlands. Highlands is a quant little town and we enjoyed visiting the many stores. The only drawbacks were that we were close to the highway and the sites are pretty close together. Other than that the bathrooms were very well maintained having no less than to cleanings a day. We loved our visit and do recommend!

My favorites place in the mountains. Cradle of the Forest does an excellent job of maintaining and managing the campground. Their hard work and dedication is commendable. Thanks to all of you.
